My Journey: From 187 pounds at 39 to my FIRST Bodybuilding Competition at 42! Transforming me!

In March of 2008 I saw a picture of myself at 186 pounds. It was at that point that I said enough was enough. I started going to a doctor for vitamin B shots and what I liked to call 'legal speed'. I would never recommend this as a means of weight loss knowing what I know now. It was an act of desperation. But I lost 45 pounds in a year and then I stopped taking the pills and shots and continued to keep the weight off. Between March of 2008 and April of 2009 I dabbled in treadmilling and home exercise as a beginning to where I am now. In April of 2009 I joined a gym, started strength training and am now officially addicted to it! I am training for my first competition in 3 weeks!! I cannot believe what I have accomplished in 3 years...and I know that if I can do this, YOU CAN DO THIS! I am happy that I am now as strong on the outside as I am on the inside. I no longer hide when someone pulls out a camera. Shopping is fun again. And I am showing my 3 daughters that it is absolutely okay for a woman to be strong physically and mentally. I still have a long way to go...but I know I will get there!
