Facing Diabetes

Facing Diabetes is actually the name of my blog (http://facingdiabetes.blogspot.com/) so it seemed a perfect title here as well. My name is Jeanne and I am a T2 diabetic (D Sept. 2009). I need to get in better shape so I can be there for my girls as they continue to grow into beautiful healthy young women. I am a freelance writer and an avid genealogist as well as a prepper. My goal is to get out of the plus section of the store and get healthy!

My Program:
I'm still working on a program to be honest up til now it's pretty much been flying by the seat of my pants so I need to get structure and then I'll update this section!

Personal Information:
I write a diabetes blog, a diabetes column for Examiner.com, a preppers column for Examiner.com and I cover a variety of subjects for Knoji. In addition I am working on a genealogy related book.

I also have a part time job with Hospitality Basket and am a Wellness Consultant with another company as well.

IUHRYTR -- thank you for the vote of confidence! Thank you also for asking about prepping. A prepper is one who is prepared to not just survive an incident - be it natural or man made or even government created - but to live as close to normal afterwards.

It is funny - the more I get into and learn about prepping ... the more I realize my mom used to do this ALL the time when I was growing up. We moved out to the country when I was seven and the first thing she had Daddy do was build these huge pantry shelves along the one side of the basement. She had a large garden and canned everything so the pantry was always full. She bought non perishables (everything from pasta to paper towels) and she bought them in bulk when they were on sale. When a winter storm (and we used to have some doozies!) hit there were times that no one got out of our development for a week or so. We never went hungry! Electricity was alwasy iffy but there was always food and water (she rotated out gallons of bottled water).

Hope that helps! Thanks again.

emoticon to SparkPeople and the "Writers' Support Group" team. I wish you much success with your weight loss. Take things one healthy meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time and always believe in yourself you can do this, one pound at a time. emoticon -- Lou

(Curious: what is a prepper?)
