"It's not the poundage so much as the roundage."

I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have a variety of endocrine and autoimmune disorders that make weight management difficult. I can't use these problems as an excuse anymore, and with perseverance and support I can overcome these obstacles!

I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have a variety of endocrine and autoimmune disorders that make weight management difficult. I can't use these problems as an excuse anymore, and with perseverance and support I can overcome these obstacles!

I do not know exactly what my heaviest weight was, but I know I was there in early 2003. I lost two sizes when I finally weighed myself, and I was 225 then so I guess my highest weight was 250 at the very least. I lost weight and gained most of it back -- I was 223 on 12/15/2008, which is when I started taking SparkPeople seriously.

I was approximately 170 lbs in May 2005. I lost the weight without even trying after I began taking Metformin, Levoxyl, and Cytomel for polycystic ovarian syndrome and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Unfortunately, I began to feel ill again towards the end of 2005, and as easily as the weight came off, most of it came back on.

Basically what I'm saying is that I yo-yo a lot and I would like to stop that now.

Upcoming rewards!
170 lbs: Nail polish stuff DONE 3/4/2012

160 lbs: Bubble bath and scented lotions DONE 4/29/2012

150 lbs: Polar heart rate monitor! DONE June 2012

140 lbs: A necklace I saw at Fireworks Art Gallery

130 lbs: Not sure! Will think about it.

125 lbs: Clothes, jewelry.

My Goals:
I would like to keep my weight at or below 130 lbs. I need to get down to 132 to have a healthy BMI, but I don't really care about what the BMI says. I would like to reduce my body fat percentage to 25% at the most, but ideally 20%.

I don't need to get completely ripped or really tiny. I just want to be healthy and comfortable in my body and my clothes.

I'm also working on the mental aspects of weight loss. I have a very poor body image.

Other goals:

*Wear regular sizes. I love you, Torrid, but I would like to see other people. DONE! December 2011

*Single-digit sizes! DONE! January 2013

*Reduce joint pain and increase flexibility.

*Learn to roller-skate.

*Get rid of insulin resistance.

*Run a mile without stopping. (DONE 11/2/2011)

I'll add more as I think of them.

My Program:
*Measure everything I eat. No eyeballing!
*Track everything I eat. Stay honest!
*1300-1700 calories a day
------------------
I don't work out every day. I prefer longer workout sessions 3-5 days a week.

I aim for 250-300 minutes of cardio a week and I do strength training 2-3 times a week.

I get bored easily, so I do

*Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire

*30 Day Shred

*Cardio machines at the gym (the elliptical is my favorite)

*Swimming

*Walking

*Riding my bike!

I drink at least 10 cups of water a day. I eat more vegetables and fewer processed food items. I limit alcohol to rare social events.

I have early-onset osteoarthritis, but weight loss and exercise should help that.

Personal Information:
Currently living in Seattle, WA with my cat.

I prefer the term "bohemian" to "unemployed bum."

I'm 34 years old.

Height: 5'1"
HW: 250ish lbs (2002-2003)
SP start weight: 223

Other Information:
I love pop culture. And puzzles. And board games. And video games. And crocheting. I need less sedentary hobbies!

Favorite musicians:
Sonic Youth, James Brown, Imperial Teen, The Kills, The Blow, Stereolab, Stereo Total, Janelle Monae

Favorite TV shows: LOST, Dexter, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Futurama, Doctor Who, Parks and Recreation.

Favorite authors: Nikolai Gogol, Daniel Handler, Jim Thompson, Roald Dahl

I'm always reading -- at least when I'm not watching TV.

Favorite books: Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, Native Son by Richard Wright, The Collector by John Fowles, Cruddy by Lynda Barry, The Nothing Man by Jim Thompson, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

Happy Birthday DONE GIRL

Those born on the Virgo-Libra cusp enjoy beauty and all things sensual. They may find themselves drawn to the arts, attractive people, and precious objects or wish to make themselves and their surroundings more pleasing to the eye. They have a great mind for details, and do a terrific job running a business or planning a large gathering because of this talent.
Virgo-Libra may be conflicted in some areas. While both signs Virgo and Libra are concerned with taste and aesthetics, they can lack in emotional or intuitive areas. They may find that what is pretty on the outside isn't so nice on the inside. Ultimately to be happy, they need to make the inside beautiful, too.
If they want to succeed, they should stop being so concerned with appearances. They should keep their search for beauty alive, and try to keep from becoming compulsive or cynical. They should not neglect their spirituality or get too caught up in materialism.
Virgo-Libra is responsible and they attempt to be as fair as possible. They are good team workers, but they can lack self-confidence. They are polite and open-minded, but they love a good debate. Kind and considerate, they rarely show their anger in public. Instead, they may use some subtle way to get even.
Virgo-Libra is health-conscious, which helps them take good care of themselves and their children. They like to exercise, though they do have a definite lazy streak. Think of the cat, stretched out in the sunny patch on the sofa: that is Virgo-Libra. Exercise is more appealing when they can socialize at the same time.
In love, those born on the Virgo-Libra cusp are romantic, devoted and playful. They pick up the important little details that delight their partner. They want a peaceful, harmonious relationship. They can see all sides of a situation which can make them very just, but can prove maddening to those around them at times.
They may have issues with being satisfied. No matter how good something is, they can still see flaws. If something is imperfect, they are inclined to get rid of it. Tiny flaws will eat at them until they can get them fixed.
Persons born on the cusp of Virgo-Libra are practical, hard working, diligent, meticulous, attractive, logical, charming, shy, modest, efficient, romantic, devoted and polite. They can also be unfair, aloof, easily influenced, self-indulgent, fussy, insecure, have hypochondriac tendencies and indecisive. The Cusp of Beauty sounds pleasant, but it can be a harsh taskmaster.
They love nature and their feet are firmly grounded. Their heads are still way up in the air, though. They may be artistic, or be able to design their home in the most aesthetic styles. They like science.
