Lately, it occurs to me what a long strange trip its been.

I'm a late-40s, borderline obese, sedentary man with a wife, four sons, and two dogs.

Or I was. I still have the wife, sons, and dogs. My weight has dropped just enough that I'm not officially obese. I'm still working on getting out of the "overweight" category. UPDATE: 8/24/2010 I'm "normal", with a BMI of 24.96.

Mentally, something snapped in March 2010. I just did not want to live the way I was living. I found SparkPeople in April, and I've worked the diet and exercise diligently.

UPDATE: 8/12/2010
122 days later, I've lost 38 lbs (17% of starting weight), spent 130 hours exercising, and changed my life.

Haha... I already have for and I am running out of places to put there where they can be hidden.

It is so funny because I am pretty conservative at work and so when my co-workers see me outside of work or in pictures they are shocked that I have tattoos on my back.

Its pretty funny. Its sort if like a "I guess you dont know me as well as you thought you did".

I will probably end up getting more on my back. The back is easy to hide considering I will be wearing closed back tops to work.

You are totally right about the Hardest Race in America! I just used the phrase 'cause that's how our newspaper labeled it. And I agree, that YOUR 1st race, or next race may always be the hardest! I actually meant the blog to stress that -- we each have 'the hardest race' or challenge ahead of us, 'cause THAT is the one WE have to do! I'm not a runner, so I don't 'race' -- but I am doing my 2nd 5K in September. Just getting out there and moving for a good cause! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and God Bless You on your Journey to Health!

    Thanx for the nudge.

I have been traveling without a scale since Tuesday. Just got on this morning for the first time. It wasn't pleasant, but could have been worse. I'll update PD today...
