Live wholly, love completely, learn continuously, and laugh often.

I started SparkPeople in June 2011 thanks to the encouragement of my 19 yo daughter. I was skeptical about yet another diet/workout plan, but soon became a believer. Over several months, I lost 25 pounds and had begun running. Thanks to SparkPeople and some hard work, I was able to go on hikes with my family that I usually had to skip. For me, it was nirvana.

Fast forward several months from my last blog and I have gained all of the weight back, not because of the work here, but because I chose to ignore one of the major precepts of SparkPeople - Keep It Real. It's all about developing and working a plan that's fits with your real life and your real body, right now. What habits and choices are sustainable in your life for a long time to come?

So I am back- tweaking what I learned the first time and figuring out where to go next. It's a good thing I enjoy the learning process.

My Goals:
to live a healthy lifestyle that allows me to never miss another family activity like rafting or hiking because of my weight or conditioning.

New goals under revision

My Program:
- Cardio 6 days per week: swim, hike, walk, aerobics, or bellydance
- Strength train 6 days a week
- Yoga, usually for back or knees, 7 days per week (20 minutes)
- 5-6 small meals per day with plenty of veggies and fruits, minimal red meat and sugar
- I have found that carefully balancing my carbs with protein eliminates much of the sugar binging
- Over 8+ glasses of water daily
- Weigh in weekly

Personal Information:
My name is Lisa and I am the happily married mother of three terrific teenagers. I am also fortunate enough to reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest within a short drive of both the beach and the mountains.

Other Information:
Homeschooling my youngest allows me to indulge in my penchant for studying literature, history, and science. My favorite movie of all time is Harold and Maude and yes, I am fond of Herman Melville. I am definitely better at coming up with ideas than following through with them.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! Josh Sundquist's story kicked me in the rear, too! I keep that photo on my pinterest board, and it gets me every time.

Best wishes to finding your best path to success!

Well Said. Managing stress is no easy accomplishment. You can't plan for it and when it happens you're always at a disadvantage. I also felt ridiculous gaining it back so quickly, but I was last on my priority list for months. The support here on SP is like no other. We can do this.

Thanks for you comments on my blog last week... glad you enjoyed Liz's too!

Good grief... you don't need to be ashamed to admit you haven't been swimming... isn't that what these blogs are all about? None of us have been doing what we should. But we are human after all (My friend 2BMYOWN posted after you did, "welcome to the human race")

I've gotten in a few workouts since that blog... not as many as I'd like, but it's a start. Thanks for the butt kicking.... and now here's the return kick! emoticon

I just read LMB100's Blog and her comments and saw that you read my blog. Thank you! It really helps to know that I am not the only one struggling. I read so many success stories that I forget that I am not the only one who has a hard time with this new lifestyle!
