Let's do it!
A note to old Spark friends: I just eliminated half or so of my Spark Friends. It seemed fitting at the end of the year/beginning of the New Year to take stock of things. I've seen that many of you have gone, some have stayed, many have reached their health goals and others have not. A note to old Spark friends: I just eliminated half or so of my Spark Friends. It seemed fitting at the end of the year/beginning of the New Year to take stock of things. I've seen that many of you have gone, some have stayed, many have reached their health goals and others have not. I was surprised that more than half haven't been active on SparkPeople for over two years! Even just checking in. I'd like to think that this means that those people have found other successful tools and ways to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. I hope so and I wish you all that aren't active anymore on Spark my heartfelt best. For my Spark friends still here, a greetings to my "comrades in arms" in our fight to live healthier lives - in every sense - and my wish that you may reach your goals this year and live your lives to the fullest!!!! ----------------------------------- As for me, I'm still trying to still figure out how my body works and being here on Spark is a great way for me to be "mindful" of what I do and what I eat and staying focused on living healthy. So, I'm here walking the line between a focus on my body at the exclusion of the rest, and the living with the exclusion of my body; I'm just trying to find that place where I need to be. I'm also dealing with a body I've got to take care of as it's the only one I've got! It's got a left knee miniscus that's a bit pinched at times that I have to watch out for and a lumbar region that acts up if I gain extra pounds: maybe it's my body's "self defense system" making sure that I take care of it or else!! :-D So here I am, at almost 46 living in Italy close to my two children and enjoying in particular my marvelous baby boy! As for my struggles with my body they all came to head in 2007 and 2008, when I found myself not happy, way overweight, with a marriage that failed and getting in debt; I needed to make a change and in part I initiated the change and in part I suffered it. I found out in the end that I suffer from depression and a lot of my issues are rolled up together. So, I started in 2008 to restart my life and I have found that the weight was a symptom of other issues and unhealthy ways of living and a way of my dealing with my emotions. I have found out that to maintain my healthy living I'll have to face working at it on a day to day basis for the rest of my life, but it is a hurdle I can face; I a worth it!Though I'm far from perfect, I am getting better and better at taking care of my body. This is also a part of my process of taking better care of me and in being a better person to those around me :) Work, money, responsabilities and all the rest come along for better or for worse, I am a constant and need to take care of me to also be there for others and to deal with all that life gives me.

My Program:
Running and stretching. Weights and sports outside like alpine skiing. Logging in all the food that I eat and making choices about what I eat, instead of being controlled by food and the emotions behind my food choices!
Personal Information:
I'm an American that grew up on the US west coast (Seattle and Southern California) but for the last two decades I've been living outside the US. I currently live in Northeast Italy.

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today." - Dale Carnegie
