Momma T

Hello, I 'm Tamara, Im 29 live in Houston and am trying again for the 68th time in my life to lose some weight and hopefully keep it off. I had a baby last July and since giving birth I have gained 40 lbs. I gained 20 while I was pregnant. I work full time, and have to take care of my family and home. I'm beyond exhausted, but I can't stand being this overweight. I'm looking for any tips, advice, or support I can get. I also suffer from extreme mommy guilt, so if any of you can relate.....

emoticon to SparkPeople!

Yes, this site is just so full of helpful information and tools-- it can be overwhelming til you get used to it! One of the easiest ways to become familiar with things, is to go to "SparkPoints" and do some of the things listed-- track your food and fitness, read some articles and blogs, and make a blog yourself. You get points for doing it and virtual trophies as you get more points-- but the big thing is that you'll be getting used to the tools etc available here.

I've found the Nutrition Tracker to be probably the most helpful thing. They say losing weight is 80% what we eat, and 20% exercise, so I think it's really critical to get a handle on what-all I'm eating. As for exercise, you can start with as little as 10 minutes a day. A little bit done consistently, is a whole lot better than starting out with an hour and then giving up because it's too hard to find that much time every day. (Which is exactly the sort of thing I always did before SparkPeople.)

Most of all, remember that small changes done on a consistent basis, really CAN bring about big changes. I wish you much success!
