Hi everyone, i live in the Netherlands; found this site via Oprah and Dr Oz; I'm here to lose weight and hopefully help my sugar level aswell; been on a yoyo for the last 6 years.I'm so glad i bumped into this site; I am going to do my very best.
Am also looking forward to meet new people...

I'm a diabetic..

But my sugar counts are too high.. during the day time its a reasonable count but its the sober one that keeps me on 5 tabs a day,...
My doctor believes i can get off med.. but i went from 1 tab a day so quickly to 5 that I'm afraid i will never get off..

In holland i can't get all the food adviced on my tracker; and glucerna is not here, only an equivelent 3 and a half hours away with train and i can't afford that ...
I have a scale which converts pounds and ounces to kilo's & grams.. but not miniscule, from 1oz & 10 grams are the lowest.. so really precise i cannot be...
i do aprox guess work.. haha...
I'm also originally from England been here 30 years,
And being away from roots makes you wanna sometimes indulge in some comforting food that you grew up with; not alway's so healthy haha lol,..

I am small in height so my weight really takes a toll on me..
when i was pre diabetic i could handle myself pretty good without med and my weight was reasonable aswell;

Then the guy i was totally in love with for 20 years turned out not to be that guy and had decieved me in so many way's that i lost myself for a while in drink.. it took me a long time but through determination with only myself ( i told no-one about it ) i managed to get back to a stage that i only drink now with a celebration or if i fancy...
I feel a winner for that as i didnot need help from no-one..
but now with this diabete's and weight problem i am crying for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I have been on SP for nearly 7 weeks and am stil trying to get on the right diet..i track everyday.. and get advice to eat more calories, fat & protein.. I'm still trying to find a way how to do that, as i've never been a big eater & i eat pretty healthy food, so its pretty daunting to me.. But i do have faith in SP.. because of all the success stories.. and the motivation * inspiration & support.. I have learnt more here about the carbs &protein than 3 years with a dietricien here in holland.. so yes i have alot of faith...

I do feel better physically less hypo's..

I get at least 10 to 30 mins of exercise done a day (most days..lol..) with 1 or 2 video's from coach nicole, i walk with my bike to the shops and bike back with my shopping..so not too bad..... its just the scales don't move much....haha lol...
I also have a bowl problem which has got a little better on the cramps.. they don't accur so often..
Drinking alot of water a day is good but am in & out the bathroom all day..hahaha...
success to all on SP

Hey Tisha!! It was sooooo good to hear from you. We missed you!! I do love to hear from you.

How is your daughter feeling in her 5th month of pregnancy? I hope her doctors are monitoring her much more closely, give her history with her last pregnancy. But just look forward and stay positive. I have been lighting candles for her. I had an experience similar to your daughter's with my first child. he came early and only lived 11 days. It was so heart breaking but then my next pregnancy was my oldest daughter who will be 32 next month.

Kids do have a way of coming back to roost so to speak. They have it so much harder these days. It is so much more expensive for them. My son still lives with us and he and his girlfriend would love to move out but rents are so expensive around her and neither of them make enough to afford a place. I was quite proud of him that he actually worked the finances to determine it was not feasible financially. You have to know my son when I say I was proud of him for sitting down and working out their finances to see if they could afford to move out, that is not something he would normally do being somewhat impulsive. Plus his girlfriend just went back to college so she is working less hours as a hair stylist and that would have further strapped their finances if they had moved out.

So glad to hear that you will be on SP more often. I am not on as much as I would like but work commitments keep getting in the way. I still keep in touch with Barb and a few people but don't usually post too much in any of the topics chat rooms. I barely have time these days to get in my exercise. I have had a gym membership for 6 months but have only managed to get there about half a dozen times although I have recently made a resolution that to go a few times a week. My health is more important than work which is what always seems to get in the way of my timing to go to the gym but no more.

Today is Mother's Day here but I am wishing you a Happy Mother's Day!! emoticon

Please keep in touch. I love to hear from you!!!

Hey Tisha. I know what you mean about expensive rents. We live in a college town so rents here are much higher so my son and his girlfriend can't afford here but could possibly afford lower rents further out in the country. The problem with that is that they both work close to home and moving anywhere else they could afford would add an hour commute to work. It is so hard for young people today. When my younger daughter finally got her job in New Jersey, it was only part time but she had looked for over a year and this job was in her field and a good opportunity plus she would be closer to home so we encouraged her to take it. Since the job is two hours from us, she had to move there and we helped her pay her rent for a few months. She was able to get anther part time job as a tutor at a community college so that helped until her part time job went fulltime so now she is able to make ends meet and still kept her part time tutoring job. I hope your daughter and her boyfriend are able to find something although I bet you are happy to have her with you. I don't mind my son and his girlfriend being here. They keep to themselves pretty much but one thing I would wish for would be that they both could pick up behind themselves a bit more. Especially his girlfriend. I would hope that if either of my girls or even my son for that matter were in the same situation, that they would be more tidy than she is. My solution is to give them both a trash bag and say it is time to pick up the den where they watch TV and play video games. I can overlook the untidiness because she is really a lovely girl who keeps my son in line and he is very happy so that makes me happy!!!! emoticon Sounds like you had a lovely time in England over the holidays. It was good that you got to see your mom. I miss my mom all the time but mostly during Christmas which was her favorite holiday and she always overdid everything at that time, presents, food, decorations. We had some friends living in Bristol for a while for his work and we wanted to try to get over to see them but never happened during the 3 years they were there and now they are back in the States. I am so so so so so so glad you are going to be on SP more. I have really missed you!! Kudos on the weight loss!!! I am still trying to get off the 20 pounds I gained back. That darn old scale will just not move down although I am glad it is not going up!! emoticon

Please keep in touch!! It was so good to hear for you and catching up!!! I really have missed you and really glad to see you back!!
