My Goals:
When I first joined SparkPeople, I'd seen my weight creeping up and decided that I needed to be more aware of what I was eating and how much I was exercising. Now that I've reached my goal, I'm keeping the Spark alive by adding nonweight-related goals:

THE PHYSICAL:
- Do some ST every day.

AND THE EMOTIONAL:
- Be brave in all things.
- Face challenges head on.
- Keep focus on quality work
- Envision positive outcomes for each day
- Live in the present, neither in fear of the future nor dwelling on the past.
- Make sure that every day I do a little of everything that gives me joy, like talking with SparkFriends, reading, writing, and walking.

All this will make for a VERY busy day, but what the hell. Life is short; make the most of it while you can!

My Program:
Make sure to eat at least SOME breakfast every day, for a kick-start!

Aim to walk a total of 5 miles, 10,000 steps, a day.

Eat only when hungry and stop when full. (This is NOT easy, by the way.)

Do daily pilates-type exercises to keep my hips and back limber.

Personal Information:
I recently moved to Port Charlotte, FL, from Exeter, NH, and am 66 with an emotional age of about 36.

5'7"

Went from 172 in February 2005 to a low of 111 a few summers ago (much too low for me)

Now maintaining and trying to stay below or near120, mainly to fit into more of my clothes and have a flat tummy.

This, too, isn't always easy, because Bill and I love to cook and try out new recipes all the time!

Other Information:
My passions lately are writing; walking; Sparking; gardening; and reading. Of course, that's all when I'm not working as a college textbook editor and local newspaper columnist.

OMG. I can't imagine how you have managed to get all of that done. You must be exhausted. You are not actually retiring at all. LOL. You are a work horse.

I don't want to be the source of any pressure on you, GF. I understand if you can't stay in touch but I admit that will be sad if I don't hear from you for 3 months.

If you come back and I'm not here any more you know how to reach me. A lot of my friends are leaving sparkpeople and I'm not sure if I want to stay or not as it's a time waster and I'm not getting anywhere with it. I came here to lose weight and get fit. LOL. Not happening. I am wanting to make some changes in my life. Losing Reekie has freed me up to get more done and hubby and I are ready to get busy again. We are tired of crying and are both fighting depression over it and want to work through it. And I mean work. We are making plans.Getting back to the remodeling.

That is wonderful about Bill's brother coming to take care of the girls. I was hoping you had someone to look out after them.

You are seeing the world!! And where will the next adventure be? LOL

Good Morning, I enjoyed your columns last night; always a good tale! But, I'm missing my friend Sue and came to your page to see how YOU are doing! Living life in the present and it appears to be working for you! WTG! Still book editing or have you retired to columnist? Wishing you well, busy with life is a good thing and a healthy place to be, if life is good! You seem to have landed in a good place and continue to stretch, reaching out for new experiences. I love it! The past is past and has made us who we are. Seize the day! Hugs.

That sounds fantastic!! Are you giving up your writing job or just on a LOA? It sounds like your retirement will be very exciting. What are you going to do with the girls?
