Working towards a thinner, more healthy me!

I am an almost (10/28) 63 year old mother of one and grandmother of two wonderful kids ages 11 & 8. I want to be able to keep up with them and to get healthier as I lose weight and eventually go off my diabetes medication. I have struggled my whole adult life with my weight and want to get all the excess off once and for all.

My Goals:
My goals are to reach a healthy weight, keep it off and be able to go off my diabetes meds and my cholesterol meds as well. I want to re-educate my brain to eat only what is healthy and good for my body.

My Program:
I am back on track and working with my daughter to achieve my goals of weight loss and consistent exercise. She and I have a two month challenge we just started today, so time will tell who wins! Both of us will win as we'll both be healthier and slimmer!

Other Information:
Aside from my grandchildren, I love reading and photography and nature.

Hello, liked reading about your weight loss and your thoughts and wisdom.
You have really given me a lot to think about.
The gym would be a good place to start, but slowly, I do not want to keel over! emoticon
tI is time I became really serious about the food I put into my mouth.
Another sparkie said "make it your business, NOT a hobby" to do the correct things to lose the weight and get fit.
emoticon emoticon ate 534 calories over my cal limit today, not proud.../congratulations on the work you have done to lose your weight

Thank you so much for your encouragement and your words of wisdom. I especially liked the pages of a book analogy-very true and something I will remember on my long journey to my goal weight. I have struggled my whole adult life (I just turned 60) with my weight, and I have lost and gained so many pounds over the years, but this is the first time I have ever felt I can do this program long term and take off the 110 pounds I need to lose. You are the first person to write to me and I can't tell you how good it made me feel to see I had a message from someone other than my daughter who is also a Sparker.
You look really good in your photo-do you have a lot to lose yet?

Hugs,
Susan emoticon

You are on your way! Great weight loss.
This journey we are on seems to take different paths everyday.
If we were perfect we would not need Spark people for support.
This is my personal philosophy about my weight loss journey:
I like to think of daily food control like the pages of a book. One page (day) is not very thick, hardly seems worth the effort, but when I close the book the thickness of all the pages (days) together really have an impact. It is up to me to decide if the story is a good one.

Hugs,
Belinda
