MY JOURNEY TO FITNESS

I am a 43 year old mom of two teenagers who has struggled with my weight since my mid-twenties. As a teen i was very active, involved in multiple sports, but after high school i gradually started putting on weight. Add to that 2 children and a job that had me on the road 90% of the time (with loads of bad food choices along the route) i continued down that slippery slope of weight gain.At my highest i weighed 210 lbs at a height of 5'4". Add to that 2 children and a job that had me on the road 90% of the time (with loads of bad food choices along the route) i continued down that slippery slope of weight gain.At my highest i weighed 210 lbs at a height of 5'4". Since Oct 2010 i have gradually brought my weight down to 138lbs at first through dieting, then adding cardio and heavy weights. This journey has been challenging at times but so worth it. The changes I see in my body and health really motivate me to make this a way of life even after i reach my weight goal.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose 10 pounds of fat and replace it with 10 pounds of muscle...no easy feat, but I'm game...Bring it!!!

My Program:
I try to exercise 6 days a week. I hill walk with leg weights 3 times a week for about an hour then do strength training with weights and resistance bands. I started off at the gym but now my workouts are at home.
Update-Jan 2012-I have started the P90X system to help me tone and shed these last 15lbs.
Update-Feb 28 2012
P90X is going well i've lost 6lbs so i'm now 140lbs. My abs are improving so I'm happy about that.
Update-Lost another pound now 139lbs
Update- I am now at 137lbs and holding.
Update- I am now 133lbs

Personal Information:
My name is Suzanne. I love to read, surf the internet, watch movies and gardening. Except for the gardening, all my other loves are sedentary activities..lol. which is probably a contributor to my weight gain.

emoticon on being so close to your goal! You're doing an amazing job!!!

Don't worry about maintenance. Keep doing what you're doing...staying active, eating healthy, taking care of yourself and you'll be able to maintain your weight and keep your healthy lifestyle. It's a challenge because we have to fight the urge to go back to the UNhealthy lifestyle. Making the mistake of thinking "Oh, I'm at goal, I can stop working out/eating healthy" but since you know that it won't be hard to maintain. You can do it!
