Today is my 60th (GULP!) birthday. I've been enjoying weekly balance/flexibility classes and can tell a positive difference. I also enjoy the twice weekly strength training classes I've been participating in, and am ready to add something else on a consistent basis. The cool thing is, after MANY years of searching for a workout partner, I've not found just one, but am adding a second one! That has made a world of difference for me.

I will evaluate my goals monthly to see if I need to make any changes, and to reward my successes.

3-YEAR LONG TERM GOALS for 2016-2018
1. lose at least 75 pounds
2. make fitness a natural part of my week
3. make healthy food choices a natural daily activity
4. allow for guilt-free treat days

SHORT TERM for 2016:
Lose 10 pounds from today, Oct. 20, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2016

Action Plan:
1. Fitness:
a. Do water aerobics 2-3 times per week to include a strength training component
b. Balance & Flexibility or Strength training classes 2-3 X per week followed by walking for 30-45 minutes

2. Diet:
a. Eat 3 nutritionally balanced, healthy meals per day to include at least 5 vegetables and fruits daily, a low fat protein per meal
b. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily

3. Emotional/Mental Health:
a. Plan meals and schedule workouts
b. Sleep ~ Get 7-8 hours per night!
c. Daily positive self-talk.
d. Daily spiritual reading.
e. Weekly Spark interaction
f. Evaluate my goals monthly to make any necessary changes
g. Chart weight weekly on Monday mornings, and chart fitness minutes on the Progress Calendar that I keep on my desk; chart weight monthly on Spark

Evaluate my goals regularly to make necessary changes.

Get 7-8 hours sleep nightly.

I've been overweight since I was a child. I will never give up on changing that!

    emoticon ! I have recently returned back to SparkPeople myself. I was still on this healthy lifestyle journey, I just had to step back from this website because I was spending way to much time on here. I also found that I was getting bored because the teams that I had been involved with was not really active so I decide to step back to try and reignite that SPARK again.

    I agree, the weather has been great these last few days and I have taken full advantage of it. I too have been taking long walks in my neighborhood and I must admit, It's felt so good having a little warmth from the sun beaming down on my face while taking in the beautiful scenery.

    I'm not as far along as I hoped I would be on my journey however, quitting is not an option.

    I hope you have a wonderful early birthday trip. How is your sister doing?
