Susan's Road to Fitness

I am 50+ and notice loss of flexibility and stamina more as the years pile up. I am overweight and need help reaching my goals. I am finally at the point in my life where I am ready to make ME a priority.

I've been with SparkPeople for 7 years off and on. I want to be better at 60 than I was at 50! I 've had success in the past but only when I am consistent with using SP tolls and resources.

My Goals:
I want to look and feel better. I want to have more stamina. More specifically I want: my BMI less than 25, my blood pressure less than 140/90, to wear a size 12 or 14 again, to exercise consistently 3-5 times a week. And, I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle the rest of my days on the planet.

My Program:
The steps I'm taking to get there: Stay active in SparkPeople until I reach my goals which means staying in calorie range and try to hit that ideal carb/fat/protein split as often as possible. I will find a way to make regular exercise part of my life. I will plan snacks ahead, celebrate successes, forgive myself for setbacks and never give up. I'm combining strength and cardio and diet and appreciating the support I am getting from all of you!

Personal Information:
Closing in on 60, happily married with an adult son. I'm finally ready to make me a priority (again).

Just wanted to say hi, I've been reading your post.. Your too funny you make me smile.

50 is right around the corner for me, I'm worried about flexablity too. My mommom is 94 and we swam laps this summer. So I'm hoping to follow her footstep.

take care and good luck with ALL your goals

You are such a good friend. Thank you so much for your encouragement. I feel very lucky to have met you. I am hopeful that this week will be my lucky week. If not, then maybe next week. I know that I'm doing the right stuff and that the weight loss will catch up. Thank you for being there for me!

Nice to see the crowd is back from camp. If we could survive camp we sure will survive school. Gald to have the team around for support.

Thank you so much for your comment. I've enjoyed being in the cabin with you and I really admire how you are able to integrate a healthier lifestyle with a family...I have a hard enough time with myself and husband!

Hi Sussee! It has been great being in camp this summer. You are an inspiration. I have been telling myself, I'm too old to start training to jog. I've never jogged in my life. You make me realize that we are never too old to get it together. Thanks for all your support.
