I'm a 62 year old native New Yorker who has spent the last 40+ years in Ks by choice. In 2001, I joined the YMCA to use the pool for exercise. My knees needed replaced and I was at 250 plus Lbs. (not sure what I was at my heaviest) A good friend introduced me to Water aerobics and I was hooked. Just doing the exercise, I lost 30 lbs. in a few months. .... But didn't altered eating habits and suddenly was at a stand still. It took me another year to get myself in gear to change my nutrition choices and quit fooling myself that the exercise only would do the trick. I just could not admit that compulsive overeating was an eating disorder.

In the fall of 2002, I started making changes and slowly I lost another 50 lbs. Over the next few years, I'd make a stab at getting down to a really healthy goal weight but I didn't have the motivation or inspiration to do it. Chronic health issues were usually the excuse. I am an emotional eater who can't say no to people's requests and pile the stress on myself.

Last year something clicked. I prayed for guidance. Suddenly I began to see myself as a competent and strong woman who was ready to take charge of her life instead of letting my compulsive eating run my life.
I had a blip on my goal the last few months because of what I thought was a personal loss. I'd forgotten that I was that strong woman who really had found herself and I wasn't going to let anyone's negativity put me down. Still haven't made it under 150 lbs. but it is now going in the right direction. Your support is so appreciated! Thank you Spark Friends!

Beautiful Woman Award! Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the wall of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out"
