Still Diet Coke free since Jan. 2012! Still fighting this healthy eating and exercise!

I have tried so hard to drop weight since the 1st of the year. It has been a hard journey. I have lost 5 to gain back 8. I have started over since last Thursday and I have been faithful in diet and exercise and I have finally dropped 8lbs. I hope this continues to work!!

When my son left, Feb. 2012, he still wasn't sure what he wanted to do...but nursing was something that he had considered before leaving home.
My step-mom (his grandma) is a clinical social worker, and so she was able to get him a position as an E.R at the hospital where she has worked for 25 years. As soon as he got to South Carolina, he started working in the E.R as a 'tech'/sitter for those patients needing placement in the mental health unit.
After just a few weeks he called home and said "mom, I know want I want to do with my life"..he enrolled and started college that very next semester...getting all of his per-requisites completed. At the end of this month, he starts Nursing School.
He's been working this entire time, still at the hospital...he is very much a night owl and the grave yard shifts were ideal for him. He does 12 hour shifts, 3-4 days a week...and when not in school, he takes any available shifts that he can as he is paying his own way through college rather than taking out student loans etc.
I encouraged him NOT to take out student loans or anything like that..as it has been my experience that you end up spending half your career paying back such loans.

Unlike California where we live, South Carolina has a 'lottery' so that really helped when it came in off setting the cost of tuition. This is one of the reason why he moved to SC.
It's been hard with his small income..and of course, mom and dad we throw him a few bones here and there lol (can't let him go hungry :P) ...but, he is making it, and when he graduates, not only will he be a Nurse, he also won't owe anyone any body parts :)

We may all have our challenges but as the saying goes " If WE WANT TO WE WON'T HAVE TO" it's all in the way we look on that challenge. emoticon

thanks Susan for the encouraging words on my 61,000 points. I was excited when I finally hit 60,000.

I'm doing decent, but often my exercise is just a bunch on 1-3 days...

We have been helping our Mom a lot. She is having various troubles with housing, health, and financial.

Thanks for thinking of me. I remember you! emoticon
