Susan
Hello! My name is Susan, I'm 53 yrs. old, married for 30 years, and unemployed (for the moment). I was a "stay-at-home mommy" for more than 20 years, worked as a bank teller for 3 years, then quit that job to finish my bachelor's degree (I graduated last May!!). We took the last several months to remodel/redecorate our house, made it through the holidays, and now I must find a JOB!! I was member of SparkPeople several years ago (about the time I quit smoking), but life got in my way of continuing with the program. When I saw Dr. Oz talking about this site, I decided to give it another try. I hope connecting with others who share my goals will help me stay on track!

My Goals:
2/1/12: I've set some new goals: -- To celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and for achieving my health and fitness goals, we are planning a trip to HAWAII next year! -- I want to go somewhere to see whales (cruise to Alaska?). These trips require the ability to sit in ONE airplane seat for a very long time. I want to enjoy not only the travel, but I WILL be fit and eager to explore the islands! Shorter-term goals: --Fit into the seat at Music hall. --Make HEALTHYchoices at fancy restaurant 2/25 --New outfit for "West Side Story" 3/2 --Comfortable & proud at Easter --More swimsuit ready by Memorial Day --Lower cholesterol by June doctor's appointment
My Program:
My first plan is to cut out "white" or refined carbs. After just one week of eating whole grains, I'm already feeling less sluggish. I need to get back to exercising - I do miss it, and I know my body will not change without it. Winter weather makes it tough, but I do have a stationary bike and treadmill in the house. Unfortunately, they are in the room now occupied by my son, and he sleeps during the period I would prefer to be exercising. Will work something out.
