I have had to watch my weight since I was a teen, but I had it largely under control through my twenties. At thirty I had back-to-back babies (with no time to drop the weight in between pregnancies). After the early baby/toddler years came the craziness of a schedule filled with chauffeuring kids around, coupled with a full time job and numerous volunteer efforts in the community. Along the way, I made bad food choices, which in turn led to a sky-rocketing weight gain about 5 years ago. As the weight came on, I felt less in control and I started to give up on weight loss as a goal.

Now I'm working to get off my baby weight before my "babies" go off to college. More importantly, though, I want to reclaim my self esteem, which has been low since the weight gain. I want to buy nice clothes again (off the rack), want to be active, want to get healthy, want to look attractive to my husband (who has mercifully never complained).

So with the new year, I'm off and running (but not literally, 'cause this girl chick does NOT run).
