It should be about me - and it hasn't been. Gotta change that !

I'm getting back on track with a new commitment to my fitness in 2011. I always seemed able to lose weight and gain weight, but never able to stay at my goal once I got there. Asked my new doctor how people did that. "They essentially continue to do what they did when they were losing weight." That seemed to cement in my brain that this is a lifetime goal, not just a 3- to 6-month project. Of course, I have milestones I need to meet, but am realizing the importance of the real goal here.

My Goals:
I want to feel more confident about myself, have my clothes fit better, and above all, find and accept a healthier life style. I am taking a couple meds that I would really like to have no need for anymore.

My Program:
I have a new diet plan, more structured, so that I learn more about nutrition than just doing a, b and c to lose weight. I've done that before and then gained weight back - need to know once and for all how to do this right.

Plan is getting a shake down with incorporating glycemic index in food selections in the coming weeks. At least a conscious effort at this, instead of the randomness I seemed to have enjoyed.

Other Information:
While I'm not sharing the weight tracker, just have to brag that I have lost 6.8 pounds, no, make that 12 pounds, no 15 now !!!
Righteous. lol

Also bought the Spark book and having a good read. Will let you know what I find out. I feel I'm only using 10% or less of the capability of this site.

Hi Susan,
I am just checking in to see how you did this week? I did e-mail you but I don't know if you got the e-mail. Every time I get on this site my computer slows down. I mean REALLY slows down. emoticon Linda

Before I posted this, I thought I was the only one with this malfunction button! I'm getting back on track today. All the trigger foods are gone, and I am focusing in staying in range, watching my sodium intake, and drinking lots of water to flush out that sodium.

Thanks for the friend add. I've added you too.

Rotational diets, yes lots of those around with varying methodology, but it boils down to very low calorie ON, then an OFF week of almost normal and back again. Many diets work in some kind of cycle, but they usually explain it as helping you to adhere with more flexibility. I don't need flexibility... I need a plan! So I stick to what works then it stops working and I scratch my head. Not once has it ever occured to me (or been explained) that there was a physical reason for a regrouping week. Good grief!!

I understand not being hungry and that's part of my problem too. I eat so many veggies that I'm not ever hungry. That's how I was undereating and even when I knew I needed more calories I couldn't stuff them in. Note to self: eat more chocolate. Haha. I hope that information is helpful to you. I'm completely amazed by what I have learned and the physiology behind it. I've never had a diet book explain it and now I feel like I might be better equipped to finish this.
