I knew I wasn't in very good shape, didn't exercise as much as I should and ate too many of the wrong kinds of food (like soda) which had made me fat, but I didn't realize how bad it was (or didn't want to, denial is a big thing for, hadn't been to a doctor in decades partly because I think I was afraid of finding out what was wrong with me.) The bad part is at the time I had sort of a "body breakdown" and couldn't really do much because I was so weak, dizzy and short of breath that even walking was almost impossible. Fortunately, about a year later I'm feeling better and have more strength but due to almost a year of inactivity I've gained even MORE weight and I kept going back to my old bad habits because I was depressed and out of work (had to quit job last year due to health problems and now I can't find anyone to hire me.) Anyway, I was headed in a downward spiral and on my birthday in June I decided OK that's it, gotta do something. I started looking around for inspiration on the internet, looked into joining diet sites like eDiets and Jillian Michaels, both of which I'd tried before, but hadn't stuck to, and decided against them since money is tight right now. While reading a review of the JM site though, someone posted something about this site, and here I am. I hope it works out, it's free, it looks great, and I am motivated to get off my fat ass and get healthy. Wish me luck. ;)

And when I get off the beta-blocker I want to get a heart monitor, they're somewhat pointless while on a BB because your heart rate never goes above about 120.
Doing Exercise Every Day Rewards:
Daily: TV time
Weekly: healthy cooking item (new spice, gadget, etc)
Monthly: fitness/cooking book or DVD
Every 6 months of sticking to SP: new running shoes
Ultimate Fitness Goal: Trek to Mt Everest base camp (about a 14 mile, week-long, high altitude trek, if I can do that, I can do anything.)

To lose weight and get more active, to get cholesterol level below 175, to get sodium intake to less than 2000 mg/day, to get off ALL BP meds and to stop drinking SODA forever.
Long term goals: Walk/Run a 5k, go on a day hike, go camping, go on a weekend hiking trip, trek to Mt Everest (hey I gotta dream, right?)
Cutting out the junk from my diet little by little, walking every day, trying to eat more fresh produce and organics (especially dairy and meats) and generally revising my lifestyle from lazy and unhealthy to active and healthy.
So far I've cut out soda and fast food (except VERY rare occasions), gotten rid of eating frozen dinners (the only ones I'll touch now are Healthy Choice and even those are at most once or twice a month) and trying to eliminate trans fats, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) and chemical additives from my food. I'm cutting WAY down on sodium (which means no more living on cheese) taking supplements every day (multivitamin, C, omega 3, potassium (on doctor's suggestion) and calcium if I don't get enough from what I eat that day.)
Also working on the WHY I'm fat and trying to change my "inner tapes" like wanting to reward myself with food, and trying to get over my aversion to exercise, which so far has been the hardest.
