My current goal is to create long-term change. Everytime I leave SparkPeople, the weight comes back because I lose focus without the constant reminders of what and why I am doing these healthy things for myself. - 1/8/2011

Vision Statement: I want to look and feel younger than my age and stay active and vibrant as I age. I want to bless my body and be a good steward by making healthier choices today in my life!

**My maintenance range is 131-125 lbs.**

HOW I LOST 20 POUNDS:

- logged my food
- focused on staying in my calorie range
- focused on MyPyramid.com's suggestions for servings from each food group

- tried to drink 8 glasses of water every day (although usually I only made it up to 6 or 7, that was a big improvement)

- logged my exercise
- started taking & making opportunities to move my body
- tried to change my attitude and remember that kids call moving their bodies "play" & view it as blessing my heart

- reward every step & success in my weight loss journey
- sought support (instead of beating myself up) everytime I experienced failure, frustration, or a backslide

OLD INTRO:
I've been in denial for awhile now, but I'm finally ready to make a serious change in my life to improve my health and lose some weight. I'm grateful for SparkPeople's role in holding my hand as I take the first steps on my journey.

MY LANDMARKS IN MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY:

3/8/08: Joined SparkPeople (thanks, Raina!)

3/13/08: 200 SparkPoints!; feeling better after less than a week of new habits

3/14/08: 300 SparkPoints!; moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2 in the SparkDiet--working hard to make a serious and permanent change in my lifestyle; got on the scale for the first time since December--weighed 146 lbs.

3/18/08: 400 SparkPoints!; noticed an improvement in my eating habits as connected to emotional eating; increased self-control; pants fit more comfortably

3/24/08: 600 SparkPoints; weighed 143 lbs.; see blog entry

3/29/08: 700 Spark Points; I achieved my first major goal & bought my Dancing Lessons reward; maintaining the 143 lbs. despite slipping the last few days with very high calorie days for me

3/31/08: 800 SparkPoints; 142 lbs.! slow & steady progress wins the SparkPoints....

4/3/08: had body fat % measured for the first time in a few years--30% (the low end of the obese range)--hope to get it down to around 22%

4/8/08: passed 1000 SparkPoints!; weighed in at 140 lbs.--hoping I can maintain that loss; see blog entry

4/15/08: did an honest re-evaluation of my goals; see blog entry

4/22/08: Great news--my body fat % is down to 27% (from 30%)--that helps me feel much better about the fact that the scale hasn't been moving much lately

5/3/08: WooHoo! The scale started moving down again and I saw in the mirror the other night I am actually starting to get a 6-pack of abs! =)

5/7/08: Dropped another body fat %--down to 26%!

5/9/08: Bought myself my balloon and reward ribbons for reaching my goal of 15 pounds lost before mid-May. I am so proud of how far I've come in only two months with SparkPeople!

5/23/08: Staying steady at 25% body fat and 134 lbs.; need to stop slacking on exercising and be consistent if I expect to meet my future goals; I'm now wearing clothing I haven't fit into in 3 or 4 years; feel much happier with my body image than when I started SparkPeople, feel healthier and more self-confident

6/3/08: Staying steady at 133 lbs.; today the teller at the bank asked me if I had lost weight!

6/5/08: 2,500 Spark Points!

6/9/08: Staying steady at 132 lbs.; had teenage girls admire my weight loss accomplishments!

6/13/08: Reached my 20 lbs. lost goal!; 130 lbs.; 24% body fat (21-24% is a healthy range)

7/5/08: 128 lbs.; See blog entry

9/18/08: 131 lbs.; See blog entry

11/9/08: 133 lbs; not successfully maintaining--struggling

5/19/09: 135 lbs.; still struggling, not maintaining; working on exercising on a regular basis, but not watching food intake well

6/15/09: 135 lbs.; the definition of insanity--doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results!

3/29/10: Still hanging out at 135 lbs. It's great that I haven't gained any weight in a year, but I know I have more fat & less muscle than I did too because I did not maintain my healthy habits.

1/8/11: Last year I gained 10 lbs. over 8 months due to overeating to handle stress (emotional eating). Not good. I'm back on the wagon, starting off fresh with the new year.
