The Gasparilla Classic Long Distance 15K and ever since got the Running Bug. I have met so many runners and at that time, mother's with children and jogging strollers. I ran my first Marathon, Gulf Beaches and did the best time ever. I was 9 minutes from qualifying for the Boston Marathon. I have a one time goal to run that, hopefully 2012. 2011 has been an unusual year for me, very challanging as I'm sure with everyone.
I am so Happy that my friend told me about SparkPeople. All of the tools have really motivated me and kept me on track.

Update 5/2014: A few years ago I had surgery and have not gotten back to Long Distance Running. Last year I started training for a 10 K and got sick in September 2013 for two months. By the time I was well again it was too cold for this Florida Gal, now here in NC. I have been walking and doing some running. I also have been doing lots of Cardio DVD's and Weight Training. I still have my goals to get back to running. Determination= Victory!


Current Status:
SUNSHINEYOURWAY got it done! 4.89 mile Run/ Walk. 4 Miles Running Walk .89 miles Hills and cool down.

My Goals:
2014 Goal:
*Running Long Distance Marathon Training after Two Year Break.
*I would like to loose the weight gained after having surgery almost 2 years ago. Continue loosing weight, lost 30 pounds gained back 5 in 2013. 2014 loose 10- 15 lbs.
*Controlling my sweet tooth-emotional eating.


My Program:
Small Steps.....
*Using the Food Tracker and Recipe Calculator to see where I need to improve for healthy meal planning.
*Substituting foods for healthy choices, eliminate wheat and dairy since I have a food allergy. Dairy will be tough but gradually wean off.
*Started a personal weight lose challenge after Thanksgiving to loose 10 pounds prior to Christmas.
*10 Minute Spark Challenges, consisting of floor work, squats and Lunges...
*2014 increase fitness minutes to 2500 per month.

Personal Information:
I have been married for 30 years January 29th and have one son who will be turning 24.
Caring for an Elder Parent has taken us away from the Sunshine State.
Adjusting to Hills and Colder temps and a different Life Style.
I sure miss Tampa Bay and the Water, but most of all my Sunshine Running Buds.

Thanks for the second goodie! Love the Carolinas. My first HM was in Asheville, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. I would go there anytime. We have vacationed many times along the coast. Beautiful country.

I know what you mean about moves. With the way people communicate with digital media, no one gets to know anyone anymore. Sad. I hope you find your way back to the sunshine state in the future. I have my heart set on Tucson, AZ. Some day, it will happen.

Sharon, thanks for the goodie. My HM is on Sept 7 in Chicago. I did my last LSR Last week, 3 weeks before the race.

Here is what I am doing for my taper. I am still training 2 weeks before my race. I will not think taper until the last week, but many do a 2 week taper. I am decreasing my mileage though. Last week, 11 miles, this week 8 miles as my longest run. So if this is tapering, then I am in a taper.

I know you are striving for 14M, but 12 or 13 is fine for a LSR. Jeff Galloway is a great resource. Check out http://www.runnersworld.com/race-training/
