A new year and fresh beginning

I retired four years ago with the good intentions of getting healthier and taking care of myself. In order to become healthier, I would need to lose over 100 pounds. In the four years I have been a member of Spark People, I have lost 10 pounds thanks to this program. In total honesty, I have lost more than that but because of a lack of discipline, loss of commitment and motivation a lot of it has come back. One of the teams I belong to "Christian Living" has a challenge "What are each of you ...

One of the teams I belong to "Christian Living" has a challenge "What are each of you doing for you?" I am hoping that this will help me to stay focused and on track. The group itself is truly amazing as the people on it support and encourage each other on a daily basis. 2012 is the year I TAKE CARE OF ME!

My Goals:
My pledge for 2013

1) To lose 10% of my body weight by Dec. 31, 2013

2) To walk 45 - 60 minutes 5 times a week by Dec. 31, 2013

3) Reward myself when I achieve a goal.

My Program:
To establish monthly goals that are attainable.

January:
walking goal done weight and water goal not done

February:
weight and walking goals
water not done

March goals

1) Lose 2 pounds

2) Walk or exercise 20 minutes on a daily basis

3) Drink 8 glasses of water a day

4) Walk up and downstairs rather than take the elevator.

5) Reward myself when I reach these goals.

Personal Information:
* strong and firm Christian values believe that there is only one true God.

* originally from a little town in Northern Ontario (an 8 hour drive north of Toronto).

* a retired school teacher

* escaped the long, cold winters of Northern Ontario when I moved to Southern Ontario in 2002 .

* enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Other Information:
- like reading fiction, mysteries,

- like spending time at the computer surfing the web

- enjoy dancing all types of it especially jive

- love to cook

a fitbit is similar to a pedometer where it measures your steps, the fibit also records flights of stairs and calories eaten and burned, for more info you can check it out at fitbit.com, the neat thing about it, is ithas a page similar to sparks no where as interactive, where when you sync your fitbit, it records your steps, fights of stairs and your sleep activity,you can also enter your food, I find sparks is way more supere for entering food. But it keeps me motivated!!

We are going through Nothern Canada, can't wait, one more week so hetic, we are doing some things to the house that was needed per home inspection etc, now making choc chip cookies to go, just about to enter recipe into sparks tracker, not worried about them as they are a treat!!!
