Welcome to my page. I am a 60 year old high school teacher who has an amazing husband,two wonderful sons (40 and 30), and two amazing granddaughters. I joined Spark People awhile ago, hoping to move forward in my quest to be in great shape. I have made progress, but mostly in strength and health. I had always been a healthy eater- both in what I chose and how much. I have felt too heavy for most of my life. Then, I gained 30 pounds over a few months two years ago. After being tested for several possibilities, I was told that the likely cause was stress. I look at pictures from 30 years ago (when I thought I was fat- but wasn't) and I yearn to be the weight that I was then. I am very active and have worked out and dieted for years, but apparently not intensely and consistently enough. I Generally, I have always put many people, my career, and my volunteer activities first. Yet, I know that I need to take my weight goals as a higher priority. I am almost 60 and it's time for me! I want to be able to bike across the country and climb mountains with my husband. I want our retirement years to be filled with our dream activities. So, I better get going!! So, today I start- striving again for intensity and consistency. I am "rekindling the spark" as I move into the towards "60" and looking forward to more noticeable progress by the end of the coming year.

-to reach my goal weight by this summer
-To be able to bike 100 miles per day with ease

My Program:
-Following the SP guidelines
-Dancing or doing aerobic classes (spin, turbo) for at least 6 hours per week.
-Weight training twice a week and pilates twice a week

    I am not the greatest piano player either...I have a keyboard but my favorite song is Fur Elise. I was actually learning "Stay" by Rhianna just before Christmas but haven't played since. I try anything but country. I am not a fan of coutry at all. lol
    Yes I hope we all will rock this challenge and get those smart goals done.

    Hi! Thanks for "friending" me! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but we've been out of town for a few days. Didn't take my computer but took my nook. I could get on sparkpeople but it was not efficient in typing. Oh well, better than nothing I guess.
