It's a New Year -- 2013 -- and I'm ready for a new me. Or at least, for a different me that's more active. I'm thrilled that my daughter invited me to go out walking with her each week, and that has promise to kick-start me back to running again. I've always begun training in the late spring and then hated running in the heat. Now let's see how it works if we train during the COLD weather.

I've always loved being active, but I don't have a lot of local encouragement. I mostly find SP useful because of the Nutrition Tracker, which has taught me over and over again that I skimp on protein and need to actually consume MORE good nutrition if I want to lose weight and stay healthy and energetic.

My Goals:
Get back on track with running; just keep moving and enjoying life. Recognize that my enjoyment of running is enough, and I don't have to complete an event!


My Program:
Signed up on a number of running websites for the community support and after years of walking and running on a treadmill, finally kicked myself outside for my first run with a local club. Looking forward very much to being more active with the group.

Other Information:
I am an advocate for social change and in particular for improved animal care. How we deal with animals is deeply connected to how we deal with the human animal. And kindness is healthiest and is easy.

Thanks so much for your message. I think I'm wearing it right, it shows I'm working hard when I'm exhausted the calories burnt just aren't as good - which would be why I've struggled I overestimated the exercise component!

Very true, I'm going to do a half marathon again next year so need to start training soon! Thanks for your ideas and comments. Best of luck!!

I eat a bit of 90% cocoa super dark chocolate every night. I save calorie room for it... Love...
