Hi! I'm Sunny and I'm a happy, healthy vegan. I became vegetarian in 2008 the day I saw a "Mercy for Animals" video on the abuses of factory farming. My continuing to rely on dairy and eggs led to a weight gain and high cholesterol. I became vegan in March 2009 when I received Rip Esselstyn's book, "The Engine 2 Diet." I've been vegan ever since, learning to rely on delicious plant-based foods. Other than the hassle of eating in certain restaurants and trying to explain my choice to some friends, I don't miss my old way of eating at all! I'm not suffering, I'm not deprived, and I've lost weight!
To maintain a healthy vegan lifestyle while losing weight safely.
To lower my cholesterol without medication.
To eat anywhere without compromising my ethics or my health.
I am now loosely following "Eat to Live," the plant-strong food plan designed by Joel Fuhrman, MD. I have been vegan since March 2009.
Until now, my eating has been informed by The Engine 2 Diet by Rip Esselstyn and Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esselstyn, MD, as well as Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live & Colin Campbell's The China Study.
