The road of weight loss, for me, is the road less traveled. I started to gain weight for the first time in college, when I gained almost the entire freshman 15. Sometimes I'd lose it, but then I'd gain it back, plus a few pounds. This happened over and over, with me gaining a few extra pounds each time. Although I joined SparkPeople in 4/2008, I didn't do anything with it. I just recently became motivated to change how much and what I eat. I'm ready to lose weight and improve my health, too! My health is the biggest motivator for me, although looking good matters a lot, too. Every time I look in the mirror I think of how much better I'd look if I was at a more healthy weight.

I am looking at this as a lifestyle change, rather than "Oh I have to lose this weight, NOW!"This time I am going to try to a kinder approach towards myself by trying not to beat myself up when I slip and tweaking my diet and exercise as I go along. Eventually, I want to understand what it takes in order to have a healthy body composition and weight for me.

My Goals:
1. To lose 26 lbs for a final goal of 130 lbs.
2. Reduce my body fat from 32.4% to between 20% & 22%.
3. To work on accepting myself and my weight in the mirror no matter where I am in this process.
4. To not only heal my body, but reverse any physical damage that may have occurred by my not properly managing insulin related issues.

My Program:
1. Walk for at least 30 minutes 4 times per week to start.

2. Adjust calories and exercise as I go, based on the results I get.

3. Lose 1.25 lbs per week
