I've been dieting since I was 12. I have tried every diet from Atkins to the Zone, lost and regained hundreds of kilos. I had my only child at the grand old age of 45 and I'm fed up with people asking me whether I'm his mother or grandmother. I have various health issues but I want to be around to see grandchildren so I have to get my weight under control, and keep it off this time!

I agree with Zoe. The diet I follow is similar to what she suggests. It's my M.D.s diet and is specific for hypoglycemia. It works when I follow it but unfortunately I give into temptation. Arrggh!

Hi Sunny. Thank you for the Goodie and the good wishes.
I wish you luck on your journey. I have been good. I have
basically cut out white carbs and am slowly starting to see the scale moving downwards. Since October I have gone from 90/91to 82 now. I am chuffed. If you can get a hold of David Gillespie's book, 'Sweet Poison' , you will understand that so many things have sugar that we don't know about. I was so good and was convinced to have a tiny piece of galaktombouriko and I was
physically sick. I am also trying not to eat pasta.
Slowly but surely I will get there. You can too. Have you had
any tests to see whether there are hormonal levels in all this
weight gain.
Say hello to your family. Keep going, don't ever give up.

Hi Sunny,

Sorry I have not answered your last comment on my page earlier, we're just back from our holiday - it was really good, only too short... I would have liked a couple more weeks! We spent most of the time in Melbourne and the last few days in Sydney, where they had the hottest day since records were kept (114 F or 45.8 C) while we were there - the breeze felt like when you open a hot oven!

Thanks for your comment on my page and your compassion in relation to my parents - it is frustrating watch them without the ability to help as much as one would like! I'm also really sorry for all the hardship experienced in Greece at the moment.

I received your comment a couple of days before we left but I did not get a chance to sit at my computer (we had my daughter's 21st birthday party attended by 40 of her friends the night before we flew to Melbourne) so I thought I would have a long chat when on holidays -we bought a mobile wi-fi device to enable us to get reasonably priced internet while away (hotels here charge excessively for it) but we seemed to be constantly in some sort of "black spot", getting only short bursts of rather slow internet (too many high rise concrete buildings, I think, blocking signal), so I could not access my sparkpage or emails. I have 250 emails to deal with - it is probably just as well I could not look at them as most are work related.....

Now to the task of getting back to routine and trying to shed some weight. The good thing is that we walked a lot while on holiday (at least 3-4 hours each day) so I did not gain any more even though we did not have a single home cooked meal in that time and we ate really well! (Thanks for your encouraging words in relation to my weight! Tha ta kataferoume mazi!)
