Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
The title says it all. I'm going to be 50 in 2012 and I want to be DONE with the weight. I don't want to look back and say "I could have..." and " Why didn't I...". I'm back on the wagon after holding on for dear life this past winter. Lost motivation. Losing and gaining the same few pounds. It's still going to be a long haul but it's worth it.
THE PHOENIX IS RISING!!!
The Phoenix is the symbol of hope and rebirth. Often alluded to as the Bird of Paradise, this mythical bird was the only one of it's kind. And because of this, the gods vowed that as long as The Phoenix lives, there is hope for mankind.
It is my wish that just as The Phoenix rises from the ashes, we too can rise from the trials and disappointments we face in life. It is my hope that we go undaunted towards a better future for all and through our efforts that we may take some small embers of awareness and from them raise up a blaze that will burn brightly in the darkest endless night that is ignorance. Let our pains, joys, experience and charity forge a river of comfort powerful, constant and refreshing.
Great words of wisdom from CAROL54904 from the Done being the fat girl! team:
1. Take a good hard look at your past attempts and assess what is realistic and what is just too unlikely for you to sustain?
2. Don't be hard on yourself about the past, it's done, it's gone, it's over, but useful for informing the future.
3. Accept the fact that work is involved. You are going to have to change your ways, give up some things, adjust, adapt, and accept that a new way of eating and a new level of activity will take a concerted and focused and deliberate effort.
4. Be your own champion. Give yourself realistic goals and build yourself a support system, but remember that you and only you can make this happen; you must champion the change.
5. Don't let a lapse, or setback, in your new plan become a relapse or ending to something that you have started. There will be mistakes, missed workouts and unplanned meal experiences but that is all part of the program when you are doing something for the long haul. Being able to stick with it means allowing for lapses.
6. No more "if - thens." If I lose weight, then I will buy a new outfit/look for a new job/start dating - no. Your life is in session now; so don't act as if it will begin when you lose the weight. Getting yourself to engage and take action in all areas of your life will help you champion your own fitness/weight loss program to success.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not come yet. We have only today. Let us begin.
You will face many defeats in your life, but never let yourself be defeated.
1) Get my weight down to a healthy level, but, doing it slowly so I don't put it back on.
2) Get moving some more by walking and using my exercise bike.
3) Get more involved with the site.
4) Blog some more, even if it's just a joke or quote.
241 = 37.8
1st BMI goal
190.9 = 29.8 leave obese and enter overweight
2nd BMI goal
170 = 26.7 the weight my doctor said to go for and make new goal
3rd BMI goal
158.9 = 24.8 leave overweight and enter healthy bmi zone!!!
Bike, walk when it's good outside, do strength training and be consistent.
I've been unable to work since early 2000 because of a balance problem that was only diagnosed in 2005 and some other health issues that the doctors can't diagnose. I hope to lose some weight so that I can get healthier while working on my medical condition.
I enjoy movies and books. I'm trying to get motivated to learn something new. It's a toss-up between knitting and drawing.

Happy BELATED Birthday, Done Girl
The Gemini child is often the "baby" of the family so she has to grow up fast to keep up with the older kids. She learns to talk quickly so she can be heard otherwise, she'd get nothing of the "pie" and this is a girl who won't be left out. Gemini is often born to a father who is well respected in the community, but this doesn't mean that she is "Daddy's girl" as he may be everything to everyone and have little time for her, so she learns to fit in with lots of people and she learns to talk about all types of issues. Gemini isn't a "fat" sign as she is on the go to much and excess weight slows her down. She can have nerve problems so depression for her can be an issue. Talk therapy is important for her well being. She has to watch out for injury to her hands, shoulders and lungs. She gets along with Libra, Aquarius, Leo, Aries and Sagittarius. She can have two marriages, so she shouldn't rush into an early marriage before she knows herself.
In Gemini the Sun is active, restless and changeable. You like plenty of variety in your everyday activities, in your friends, and even in your diet. Your interests are many and diverse--almost anything will attract your attention if only for a brief time. Truly, this is the sign of the jack-of-all-trades. As the story goes, you may find that unless you can develop your powers of perseverance, you may be the master of none. Your varied interests can result in a tendency for you to spread yourself too thin, sometimes failing to follow through on projects you've begun.
Being very curious, you want to know and experience as much as you can. Gemini is the sign of duality. You find it difficult to limit yourself to one job, to one relationship, or one hobby, as you constantly seek variety and mental adventure. You scatter your energies because you don't want to miss anything. You are a lifelong student, never tiring of learning new subjects. You collect facts and tidbits of data, but you may not always have the big picture.
To the Gemini person, communication is of utmost importance. You flourish on ideas, with a mind that is ever so quick and curious. You are a person who enjoys talking and writing. All sorts of communication ideas appeal to nature. You are aware of all that is going on around you, and you want to understand and participate in it all. You are hard to pin down, and even harder to beat in a debate. Your abilities of combining quick comprehension , and the communication of this comprehension to others, are the hallmarks of your sign. You can talk yourself into and out of situations with ease. Often Mercury people (Gemini's ruling planet is Mercury) take mischievous delight in disconcerting slower minds with their fast paced mental antics. You like to be around people, and you never do well working alone or on any routine type job.
Extremely friendly, you enjoy companionship, and really thrive on it. Just as you don't like to be without activity, you don't like to be alone. You are likely to have a very wide circle of friends with whom you enjoy many activities--movies, games, conversation, and such. You are naturally outgoing and possess a sparkling wit. You are apt to become quickly bored with conservative types that can't make a decision or agree with your need to impose change. Not being very introspective or reflective, often you don't understand your motivations or the motivations of others. So in many ways, relationships can be shallow and superficial. Your restless mercurial nature requires constant excitement and change, or you'll becomes very dispirited and morose.
