Hi All!! Thanks for stopping by. Here is a little background about me. I had gastric bypass surgery on 1-31-07 and have lost half my body weight! My highest weight was 327 pounds! Wowsers. A lot of people think that this is the easy way out...but let me be the first to tell you it is NOT! The surgery is just a tool that helps you control the amount of food you can eat at one does not fix the emotional or mental issues we have with food. Nor does it control the number of times you eat small meals a day..... If you were a binge eater before will still have those tendancies after WLS. If you were a complusive eater before will still have those tendancies after WLS. It is not a cure all believe me!! I struggle daily with my relationship with food.

Most people can expect to loose at least 50% of their excess body weight the first year after surgery but the work comes in when you are trying to maintain the loss. That is why I am on sparkpeople now. I had the surgery to become healthier and I am still learning to how lead a healthier lifestyle by exercising and making good food choices. Food is still a big problem for me and I actuall mourn the abiltity to over eat and binge like I used to. (Sounds crazy huh? But I actually go to the grocery store and walk up and down the aisle looking at food I choose not to eat anymore and want them so bad!!) (Sept 20 2008-I now don't just look at the food..I buy it and it and it is not a good thing...I still don't know moderation and had stopped coming to spark ppl to track my intake due to make eating way too much food, I have experienced a BIG weight gain and I am struggling to get back on track).

Peopole who have weight loss surgery can regain all the weight if we choose to eat or graze on foods all day long (which the size of your stomach does not control if you eat small amounts of high calorie and fat foods all day long). (9-20-8 Boy is this true...I am up to 182 pounds! Due to grazing and eating all day long instead of just eating my 3 meals a day, grazing is not a good thing and believe me wls is not the easy way out)

I have noticed too that the surgery causes me to be able to eat the amount of food that most normal people eat all ready! Imagine that? And at times I get sad when I see that some people can eat anything they want and in any amounts they want and not get up to 327 pounds like I did.

I realize that this is a life long journey and not a destination. Just because I make it to my goal weight (Still have 22 more pounds to go) (09-20-08 make that 42 pounds to go now)does not mean the work is over. I will have to work hard every day for the rest of my life to maintain the loss and have a healthier life and body. I did this for me and I know that I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me!! So even when I have a bad day, I know I just have to get up and dust my self off, send a shout out to Jesus for some help, and get back on track! Looking forward to meeting some of you guys and sharing tips and success stories as well as struggles along the way.

Know that you are blessed!!

Thank you so much for the add! And yes, you are so right, its so easy to do those things without even thinking about it (grazer here... emoticon ) but just think of how far you have come and what you had to endure to get there! That is what helps me when i start to graze, i have a picture on my pc (where i spend most of my time as a medical transcriptionist) and when i catch myself grazing, i look at it and go "OMG, no!!!!! Never again!!!!", ROFL!!! That helps me emoticon
