I've lost about 70 lbs so far and have gone from being a couch potato to a marathon runner. The only thing left on my list to tackle is to reach my goal weight and proper BMI...and to live happily, healthily ever after. If I can run a marathon, I think I can do that. ;)

I bet that was ME!!! I was having a blast cheering people on. More fun then the race, maybe. I think we should say we met! And, maybe we can meet more officially some time. My family lives up near that way, so maybe we'll race 'together' again. My sil is doing a HM Nov 6th, I think, in Fayetville...or somewhere like that. I'd love to do the Memorial Run in Joplin on the anniversary date. We'll see! (And, I don't even remember the month...Apr? May?)

You ran the Mother Road marathon? How neat!!! My sister-in-law was out there running her 1st marathon. She got hurt by mile 5, so it was a LONG day for her...6:40 or so. So, I was out there cheering from my finish (at 2:37) until 6:40!!! I bet I cheered you on!!! I was LOUD! emoticon

Oh, and I got SUNBURNED, too! (and a blister!) In fact, this was the first time I had salt all over my face when I was done running. I don't know if it was from that or the sunburn, but my lips ended up swelling up & felt like they were on FIRE as we drove back to my sil's house. OUCH!!!

it has taken me about 3 weeks before I felt safe enough to try running a slow, easy 10K. that maybe was a little too ambitious. my muscles felt ok but my joints are still a little creaky. the marathon recovery preocess is all new to me too and it takes longer than it did for any of my 20 milers. give your self lots of love and rest. you earned it.

I am with you on the sunburn! (& I got a blister, but no chafing on my half Sunday) After my half, I cheered on the other HMers and the marathoners as I waited on my sil. It was a long, FUN day!!! But, next time I'll use sunblock AND chapstick! My lips actually swelled up!!!

"STEPHM26 finished my 3rd half marathon in 2:17" :) :) :) :)

If you are turning in those kind of times, you dont have a thing to worry about but you WILL need to keep it at a easy pace at the beginning (first half) with walk breaks. That will help you keep your latic acid build up to a minimum so it doesnt come back to bite you in the last half.

actually 2:17 is AMAZING.... you're going to do fine. Google pace calculators / race prediction and find a calc that you can punch your average HM or 5K time in and it will spit out a number that is pretty accurate. The one on the Galloway site is pretty accurate.

You got this... look forward to a glowing race report .... if you have any anxieties, SP mail me... you can do this...totally!
