I can do it!

After successfully loosing 10kg, I had to deal with multiple injuries & health problems. On top of that I had to deal with real stress, the kind life just carelessly throws at you. Add perimenopause and you have the result:
I regained 9kg!

Then I decided I need to get serious again:
1. Track food - so far I have lost 2kg in 6 weeks
2. Find time to exercise during the week (weekends are not a problem) - I revived my lunchtime walks
3. Find a new job, which ...

3. Find a new job, which will be less stressful and make me feel more appreciated. - I have missed two good chances, because I need a work permit, but that gave me a boost.

My Goals:
1. Do the Halfmarathon during Mwea International Marathon 2013 and the Nairobi Marathon 2013 in October in a good time.
2. Loose weight! And try and stay injury free this year.
3. Blood Pressure is well controlled now, want to keep it that way!
4. Keep running - and keep rheumathoid arthritis under control.

5. Find a new job and finally have a career with a future! Have just finished Project Management Professional training, yet to sit the exam, now need a new job

My Program:
Diet, try to stick around 1600-2000kcal,
exercise at least 3 times a week vigorously either long runs, or if in the gym, interval Training on the treadmill, stationary bike, weight lifting, swimming on Saturdays when the weather permits
Long run or walk every Sunday

Hi Steph,

Thank you so much for your encouragement on my blog. It means a lot to me. I am so stoked to get started with the personal trainer. I know I can lose the weight (because I've done it so many times). This time I am determined to develop a habit of exercise at the same time in hopes of keeping the pounds off. One day at a time ....We CAN lose this weight and find a way to exercise that does not cause injuries. (I have osteoarthritis ... old sports injuries from high school).

I see you live in Nairobi. I lived in Botswana in the early 1980s. Seems like a lifetime ago but remember it clearly. My son was born in a public hospital there ... hot water only when the sun was shining (which was most of the time) and a private room was four women with four babies. Visited Nairobi a couple of times.

I loved Greece. Have tried to go somewhere each year for a month the past four-five years ... have seen Italy, Greece, New Zealand and returned to South Africa. With this new job, the trips will be shorter but hopefully no less frequent.

Hallo Steffi. Deutschland war schoen. Kein Stress und genuegend Zeit, mir so einige Dinge durch den Kopf gehen zu lassen. Ich hab nach wie vor keine ganz klare Linie, aber weiss jetzt etwas besser, wo ich anfangen kann/muss. (Den Kopf einfach in den Sand zu stecken, so verlockend das auch scheint, hat auf jeden Fall noch nie geholfen...)
