I can do it!

After successfully loosing 10kg, I had to deal with multiple injuries & health problems. On top of that I had to deal with real stress, the kind life just carelessly throws at you. Add perimenopause and you have the result:
I regained 9kg!

Then I decided I need to get serious again:
1. Track food - so far I have lost 1.5kg in 3 weeks
2. Find time to exercise during the week (weekends are not a problem) - I revived my lunchtime walks
3. Find a new job, which ...

No real barriers, just cones in the center of the road. Runners get one lane, cars the other. This happens to be one race with few real short cut opportunities, except for the first few miles. After that, it's the bay on one side and a very steep cliff on the other. Almost no side roads, and the few that exist take you very far from the route before you could double back.

Newport is a small town. All the money from the race goes to support local schools. The community volunteers to support it, including the police and emergency personnel. The locals show up to cheer. No one seems to mind the disruption. I don't think there is much in the way of prize money. I certainly don't think any African runners participate

Thanks for the finisher medal !!
That is interesting that you commented on trekking for water in rural Kenya and this race was a fundraiser for clean water in Africa, although in this case Ethiopia. The race info said
GIVE HOPE
Just $35 gives a person clean water for life!
The organizers encouraged schools to participate as well so it was a real community event. DH and I picked this race because it is fairly local and we like to do 3 local races a year, but it is always nice to be part of a worthy fundraising project.

Hi Stef
The Run for Water race event is to raise money for clean water projects in Ethiopia http://abbotsford.runforwater.ca/
The race went okay, I was happy with my time, there were a few glitches, and it was rainy and cold. My friend dubbed it the Run In Water.
It always feels good to finish a race !! And it was well oranized, great after-race food, raised a lot of money, this year $358,000.

Hi Steph....

I do record all my "intentional" cardio minutes.... running, biking, and walking. I don't record any ST (if I ever do that).

Hoping for a very relaxed and "cooperative" day for you.

Hi Steph, thanks for the goodie and for the great tips to help with my soreness.

I am able to exercise quite well on a juice fast this time round. The first time I did a long fast, which was about two years ago, I couldn't keep up with the workouts.

I hope work is not too stressful for you. Have a fab day.
Lucy
