Welcome! I've turned 40 this year, and with that thought breathing down my neck...this last April 2012 I was 240lbs, had cholesterol and chronic back problems, and was ashamed to go to social events because of how I had let myself go.

Well, my wife introduced me to SparkPeople and nothing has been the same. I've met my 150lb goal (149lb at last weigh-in), my blood pressure and cholesterol are good, and my back is fantastic. I play sports, run, rollerblade, and am no longer ...

I play sports, run, rollerblade, and am no longer afraid to go out! I did all this in a healthy way with even some food indulgences along the way.

How was this possible? A supportive wife, a well designed website with great tools here at SparkPeople, and a wonderful community of people here who provide great advice and moral support.

It is never too late to treat yourself to what you deserve.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comment on my page! It is really gratifying to know that I've inspired someone. If running is something you love, then I have no doubt you'll be achieving great accomplishments with it, more than you even thought possible. That's how it was with me. I remember thinking, "Man, if only I could run 3 miles, I'd be on top of the world." Then you make it there and find yourself dreaming larger. And then achieving the next thing. It's all about finding the thing you love and allowing yourself to go for it. :)
