Flying through life on a wing and a prayer.

Staying up, moving along, and glad my dad gave me a place to skate every winter.

I'm leading, joining in, and following on my way down from the mountain peak.

My Goals:
Love others.

Live a healthy life.

Lend my efforts to making the world healthier, happier, and more peaceful.

My Program:
Spend more time with others, physically and emotionally support them, and center on them through the day.

Concentrate on food that is better for my body and the environment and move more daily.

Pray, volunteer, and take a role in the political life of the community.

Personal Information:
I have lived throughout the Intermountain West most of my life and people call me Mary Merth.

I'm older than I ever thought I would be (68) and became -- literally -- one of the first baby boomers as I was born on the day the war ended in Europe 1945.

Other Information:
I have never had time to do all the things I wanted, but I've made my living writing and teaching.

I love skiing, ice skating, and bicycling, but physical problems are preventing that -- at least for now.

I have never been married, never had children, and live alone. I really am surprised that I'm no longer 21.

I haven't traveled as much as I have wanted, but I'm doing the best I can about that now.

I love politics and have volunteered for liberal politicians throughout my adult life. Needless to say I am used to losing more than my share of elections.

My favorite writers and poets are Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Frost, Wallace Stegner, Sara Teasdale, Gwendolyn Brooks, Harper Lee, and Langston Hughes.

I like rock and folk music best, but find something I like in most types of music.

"It is important to then make a conscious effort to transform your thoughts. It may be true that you often cannot overcome your food cravings or stick to your diet.

"However, if there are times when you are able to stand strong, then FOCUS ON THOSE MOMENTS AND CELEBRATE THE TRIUMPHS. Maybe you put less sugar in your coffee today and said no to a second slice of pizza.

"Giving attention to the positive things will help to create greater self esteem and motivation to continue with your weight loss efforts."

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Wishing you happiness [this holiday season'].” - Helen Keller
