rediscovering me and my world

I started my new lifestyle on January 9, 2012. I was 240 pounds, my knees hurt and I wasn't doing much besides work and home. I have since lost 40 pounds.
I am caretaker for my Dad. He is 82 and has Parkinson's. He is a three-time cancer survivor and a very funny guy! My mom passed in 2010. It is so worth it.
I am a director for a non-proft and I love my job. I spend a lot of time at work in many capacities. I think a tremendously over worked schedule for the past two years and my mom's passing (and subsequent over eating and drinking) has led me to a point where I was ready to lose weight and adopt a better lifestyle for myself.
I make time to go for a walk every morning, walk to work, walk to do errands at lunch. Once a week I go hiking. I eat fresh foods, fish twice a week, and still learning about creating a healthy, balanced diet. I have a long way to go but confident I will get there.

Personal Information:
I'm 46. I am a director for a small non-profit organization which I love. I love to hike, cook, good wine, good beer and I hope to do more outdoors. I hope to start kayaking this summer and will have to look for outdoor winter activities when the time comes.
I like watching women's hockey, NCIS, Deadliest Catch, Glee and Once Upon A Time. That's about all the tv I have time for except for watching football on Sunday's with my Dad.

Thank you for your words of support and encouragement on my recent blog. I totally agree with you as far as this becoming a way of life. And frankly, for the most part, I'm okay with that....in fact I am even enjoying it. That feeling of not being overly full, sluggish and uncomfortable is wonderful ! emoticon

Good Morning! I'm also from MN and one of my June goals is to check out more info on kayaking, and possible lessons.

I saw a Nana kayaking a few years ago and I thought hmm, looks cool.

Then with all the walking I do by the lake I have seen many women kayaking all various shapes and sizes. I thought, well my azz get stuck in there or am I too big??

Lol, I will fit. I researched a lot! So, here's to us!
