Focusing on being Healthy and Happy!

This is the year that I'm focusing on me and being positive, healthy, and happy. I've been off and on this year with the dieting and exercising and really just want to be healthy instead of focusing on being "skinny" again. My husband is joining on this journey and it's nice that we keep each other in check. We've just joined a gym so that's keeping me on track with exercising, it's just getting the food part under control.

Well hey there!

So glad you made it up to Rocky - where did you snowshoe?

As far as 14ers go, the best for first timers are probably Handies (which is down here and a loooong drive from the Denver area but worth it!) and Gray's and Torrey's (both mountains are right next to each other, both easy-ish to climb, and the two can be combined if you're up to it!). Beauty-wise, nothing compares to Mt Sneffels, but again, it's a ways away from where you are. If you like mountain goats, try Quandary near Breckenridge! An invaluable resource to me has been 14ers.com. Oh, and all the mountains above except for Sneffels are dog-climbable :)

Great places to camp with dogs are Great Sand Dunes (even though it's a national park, you can hike with your dogs on the dunes as long as you don't go beyond the first line of dunes - and make sure you start early in the day before it gets too hot!) and Lost Creek Wilderness area, which has two entrances near Deckers and another near Jefferson, in South Park. Both sides are equally beautiful and great for day trips and week-long backpacking trips!

Other Colorado places I love to romp with my dogs are Blue Mesa Reservoir, in Gunnison, and in Crested Butte, which is not a far drive from the Denver area. Also check out the great national forest access around Buena Vista.

And while this may not be doggy OR outdoorsy, if you are looking for a fun weekend trip I suggest driving down I-70 for about 4 hours until you hit Palisade. It's the wine capital of Colorado and has some great vineyards that offer tastings! Plus, if you go in the early fall, you can also pick some world-famous Western Slope peaches!

Hey Stacy!

Oh my gosh - there are so many good spots here in Boulder. I haven't been camping yet (this will be the first time I'm spending summer here). But a couple of my favorite hikes are the Royal Arch and Mesa trails in Chautauqua. Mesa trail is a short and easy hike out to the rock quarry where there are some chairs made of rocks and a great view of the valley. Royal Arch is steep, but if you take a good pace it's not too long. That one goes up higher and ends at the Royal Arch which is pretty cool to see. You should check out the trail map (you can find it somewhere on the Boulder website)... really anywhere you go is going to be gorgeous and fun! Do you have any other favorites? Let me know -- always looking for new and fun things to do :)

Hey Stacy! Thanks for checking in =) It's great to see you on here again. Last we spoke, your hubby has just moved away and it was getting pretty hard but your Vegas pictures look great! So you slipped up and have to do it again... sounds like your on it! Keep it up =) I'm glad you two are reunited and you are back to making healthy choices again. How are you liking the new environment? Where are you now? Colorado?

Hi Katie! Looking for a buddy still? I am... I have been doing pretty good this past week and I'm trying to keep that up. Even though I rolled my ankle today at the gym. ugh! Hope your week is good.
