I'm now over 30. While I have a couple of issues I've inherited through genetics, there really aren't anymore excuses to not do what I know needs to be done. This year I'm on a kick to take action in those areas I know I can make changes in. Managing stress and feeling overwhelmed are in reality my biggest challenges. I just needed to start somewhere. Start a better eating plan, incorporating some exercise in my life, setting a plan for my finances and come to the realization that work is only the means to obtain money. It's not the solution to all of my problems. I just needed to start to trim off some excess in every aspect of my life and the rest would follow.

I created my page months after I started just to make sure I was committed to this change. In fact I waited until I hit my first goal, which was losing the first 20 pounds. So far I'm ahead of schedule on that achievement. I'm feeling more interested in sticking to my plan already. The other areas I'm working on are still in the stage of indecision and occasional lapses into poor behavior, but I'm focusing on my successes and hoping the rest will follow.

My Program:
My doctor wants me to consume approximately 1200 calories per day.

I tried just counting calories, it didn't work. I am highly susceptible to sodium, sugar, and empty carbs.

I had some success on the LA Weight Loss program, but didn't want to pay for the program. I did some research and found comparable products to their bars (Glucerna snack size bars) and juice (Naked Orange Mango).

The biggest thing is making sure I've hit the proteins, vegetables and fruits. So I'm back on the purple plan.

After tracking, the food selections and portions on the plan fit very nicely with my doctor's recommendation of 1200 calories per day.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, PCOS and pre-diabetes in my early 20's. Got to love it when a doctor tells you, "Well, we think we can stop your rapid weight gain, but it's going to be very difficult to lose what you're carrying now." I really loved the optimisim.

Since then I've been monitored every 3-6 months for additional symptoms like rising blood pressure and cholesterol in an effort to avoid the possibility of metabolic syndrome and heart disease. Fun times!

I do have good doctors who listen, and don't try to overmedicate me. Now it's my turn to contribute to my overall health.
