I Want To Be A Beautiful Red Rose

My Chinese Name is Red Rose...and I want to be a Beautiful Red Rose!

My name is Sharon. I am now living in China...I knew I was on the heavy side, but it wasn't until I moved to China that I realized how big I am. I know that they call me “the fat American.” I look at myself as an average size person...for a lady I wear a size 10 US....six years ago I wore a size 16. I've come along way, but I still have weight to drop. In my opinion the people here in China are too skinny...but ...

It hit me really hard when I tried to find blue jeans...they don't make jeans my size. This year is a year of change for me in many ways. I want weight loss to be one of those changes. My goal is to fit into a pair of Chinese jeans.

Hello, Sharon,
Unfortunately I did not make it to Harbin. I am just not brave enough to travel by myself in China since I don't speak the language.

I can totally relate, though, to the issue of going home for a long vacation and not eating healthily. My mom actually makes sure we eat lots of vegetables, but there is just an abundance of food, so I eat more than usual. Since I am only home once a year (and am coming from China), my mom fixes all my favorite dishes and always has desserts, so I also struggle with a different eating style at home. You will quickly adjust back, though, and will lose that weight again :-).

Jia you!

Karen

Hello, Sharon,
Yes, I am much further south - I actually cannot imagine living in northern China and dealing with snow and buses. Although, it has been my dream to visit Harbin - I just can't find anyone who will go with me. However, even though it doesn't get cold here, as we think of cold, it is a little more miserable because in the south they don't have indoor heat, so right now it's in the low 60's - inside and out, so it seems we can never get warm. Anyway, yes it is much different from the States! I am looking forward to moving back next summer. I do hope things are going well for you! Have a great week!

Hi Sharon :-)
It must be cold up where you are, right? Have they turned the heating on yet?
If you haven't yet seen the Harbin ice festival, I really recommend it :-)
Have a great weekend :-)

Hi Sharon :-)
Thanks for adding me as a friend :-) Good luck on your journey towards becoming a beautiful Red Rose :-) And you'll fit into those Chinese jeans, I'm sure! I can't buy pants either, not even men's size!
I'm in Kunming, where are you?
Bye!
Eve

Just saw your introduction on the Chinese Firecrackers page and thought I'd say hello. I have been in China for 8 years (this is my 9th) and am in Guangdong province (so I'm "near" Hong Kong". I understand the issue of feeling average but being called fat. I hope things are going well for you and that you are having success as you try to lose weight.
