Virtual me's version of me at 160, which I'd like to be at.

I had been working in the restaurant industry the last few years, but semi-recently I got out of that industry & have been working in the call center/office atmosphere. I thought I may lose weight due to the fact of not eating such junk food at work, but losing the physical activity part of it won out & I gained weight.
I also had gone back to college lastsummer, but that hadn't worked out so well as my time mgmt skills aren't the best. I need to try and balance out working full-time, going to school, taking care of myself, and spending time w/family and friends.
I've started to realize how some of my (well all of my) pants are starting to not fit. I hate it & want to do something about it. My figure is athletic overall, with muscular arms & legs, not too much of a bust, but almost always a belly.
My short term goal is to get out of plus clothes & just overall feel better about the outside of me, and get the bonus sense of acomplishment, too. My long term goal is overall better health, as my blood pressure & cholesterol are rising, and both of my parents have passed away at the age of 66 of heart attacks. (my mum in Sept 2007 & my dad in Jan 2000)
I'm going to start small for now & be realistic.
I want to build up little by little.
#1- Go on Spark People once a day.
#2- Next week (July 20th- 26th) get to the gym once for 30-45 mins.
#3- Drink 4 eight oz. glasses of h2o
#4- Go back to bringing lunch, not eating at the caf or eating out.
I'm from Florida (the Tampa Bay area), but have been living in Massachusetts (the Lowell area) for three years now.

My colour coding system is just a way of evaluating each day as it passes, and helpsme to visually see the big picture at the end of the week or month etc because on days where im within cals and exercise i colour it on the calander green, days within cals but no exercise (rest) i colour it blue, and so on... (Full list of colours and what they relate to on my spark page, i also have a photo of my calander in my pictures section :)

well thank you. i like your page as well. since losing my dad its definetly affected my eating habits and stuff. but its weird. his death seems to be hitting me MORE this year than it did last year! i think last year i was so worried about being strong for my mom and everyone. i want to get healthy for my own family and not have all the issues he did [even tho i dont think his weight was what caused his health issues] I really dont know what i would do if i lost both my parents. how have you coped with it? well ttyl

I'm reading "I CAN MAKE YOU THIN" by PAUL MCKENNA and listening to his hypnosis CD every day. It has helped me cut out evening eating of junk food. Now I'm having fruit, instead of cookies and chips. Paul McKenna is well known in England and he has clips on YouTube.

My mother died when I was 17 from a heart attack. She was my age now, 58, which I realize was NOT old. Back then the doctor told her she had "nerves" and she was a smoker. I've never smoked.
I'm reading a great book "SHRINK YOURSELF" by ROGER GOULD, M.D. He has interviews on YouTube that you can watch about his work. He is a Psychology Professor at UCLA Medical School and has helped 20,000 patients with emotional eating. The book is well worth raeding.
