I am a church pianist/piano teacher, and I have been obese all my life. I cannot remember a time when I was my ideal weight. As a performer, it is very difficult to have confidence on stage when you feel less-than-confident about your body and you know that everyone's judging you for your weight, not just on-stage, but off as well. That said, my goal is not to get to my ideal weight. Rather, it is to gain confidence, energy, and have a better quality of life. I have a congenital heart defect which has been part of my weight issue, as it limits the amount of time and the types of exercise I can do, as well as certain foods like leafy-greens, but I like eating healthy. I also like eating not-so-healthy. Therein lies my problem.
Fit into single-digit sized clothes
Lose 50 lbs.
Run a 5k
Have more energy
Exercise for at least half an hour five times a week. Drink water with meals and when thirsty.
Eat all three meals a day.
Keep fruits on hand for when I have a sweet-tooth, and veggies for when I get the munchies instead of chips.
Eat whole grains and complex carbs instead of things containing simple sugars.
Chart progress each week.
I am from SE Georgia. I am single, never-married, and have a cat. I am a total geek and am a total fan-girl. I listen to all types of music except rap, love modern Broadway. Favorite TV shows are X-files, Crossing Jordan, Castle, Drop Dead Diva, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Dexter, Big Bang Theory, Glee, and all things Joss Whedon, BBC's Sherlock, and Dr. Who.
Favorite authors: Stephen King, Anne Rice, John Green, Patricia Cromwell, Kathy Reichs, LOTR/The Hobbit, Carl Sagan, John Grisham, Michael Crichton.
Favorite Movies: Anything by John Hughes, Mel Brooks, super hero movies, The Princess Bride, Finding Nemo, Disney movies in general.

Hi there! I have changed up my exercise routine since I got back on SparkPeople this past June. At first, I was going to the gym in the morning 6 days/week and doing 45 minutes on the elliptical. About a month ago, I started training for a 5k run, so I switched the elliptical to every other day, and on the off-days I started using a 5k app that is helping me train - it's essentially a walk/jog combo that increases the running parts every time. Just this month I used a LivingSocial deal to try out a Crossfit program near me. I've been going every other two days to give my muscles a needed rest after the fact. It's intense!
