Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
About the PHOTOS:
The first two shots are what I did look like in late 2007/early 2008. The third was taken a few weeks ago showing where my lack of exercise has left me. Please ignore the fashion faux paux and the horrible expression in the third shot. haha!
After having almost hit 160lbs in early 2007, I finally started working on my fitness goals. From late 2007 to summer 2008 I had the body I had always wanted. Toned, flexible, and trim. I was working out at the gym 4-5 days a week, going out dancing, eating healthy. A happy 125lbs for my 5'7.5" stature was where I had plateaued (although at one point i had gotten down to 115lbs, that was just a bit too thin for my taste).
I had built decent arm strength, slightly visible oblique muscles, and the ability to do the splits again (something I had not been able to do since 1999 or so). I was right where i wanted to be and happy. But something happened. Winter came and I become obsessed with eating carbs and sweets for the winter, maybe I was getting ready to hibernate. I also get seasonal depression disorder which makes me snack more and go out less.
Whenever fruits go out of season I start to eat worse cause I am a VERY PICKY EATER. I live off cereal with soy milk (i have IBS so i stay away from reg milk), pizza, oranges, apples, bread, cookies, gummy bears, granola bars (the ones with chocolate), burgers (not fast food ones though), unsalted peanuts, and home made fruit/frozen yogurt-smoothies and watermelon (in the summer). This is what I buy at the grocery store EVERY WEEK! SO I am very limited as to what my taste buds enjoy. I only drink water and orange juice. Rarely drink alcohol (maybe once a month), quit smoking over two years ago, and not a fan of any drugs. In fact I'm even allergic to most over the counter medications now. I get hives.
My gym I belonged to closed down to "move" Dec. 31st 2008 and has not reopened so I just joined a new gym. But three months without a good workout and eating lots of junk food the past 6 months has been killing me. I lost any sign of ab muscles, my flexibility is minimized, I look like I've gained 30 lbs, but i only gained 15 (muscle weighs more than fat though, I know), and my migraines, OCD, and depression have worsened.
I just started a new gym membership last week so hopefully I will start to feel and look better soon.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome:
One last thing, I don't know how many people with IBS or other issues have this problem but I always seem to feel bloated, even after only eating something small like a cup of cereal or my 12oz smoothie. Not sure if it's the soy milk doing it now or if my body is just adjusting but since I started working out again, i feel/look larger and my pants feel tighter. Does that make any sense?
To gain muscle tone, lose about 15 lbs (or just turn the fat to muscle, so i might not lose anything), increase flexibility, try new exercises, and do more fine art modeling.
I work out generally 5 days a week, some weeks are busy but I try to at least get my cardio and stretching in on busy days. I'm keeping my nutrition diary up to date so I can watch what I'm eating. I am trying new exercises from the internet and in-person classes.
My name is Cheryl and I'm a metro detroiter. 26 years old.
