Being a tem member, I’d like to share points from a recent article relating to work ethics that I hope will shed light on fitness and health as well:
You just ain’t that good
Tough markets can provoke important self-examination
I just “ain’t that good” as a leader and manager. The difference between me and most leaders in this business is that I know it. Not only do I know it, but I know exactly what “I’m not” and I’m working on fixing it. Because this is what it takes to survive in brutally competitive markets.
How did I figure this out? Facing down leadership challenges, annual anonymous 360-degree performance evaluations, posting results for all to see, hard questions I’ve asked my mentors and harder answers I’ve received.
Like a lot of you reading this, I used to think that I must be good because I was in charge.
I easily put my own opinion of myself before the opinions of those that followed me. I substituted drive and determination for effective leadership, strategy, and maturity. I evaluated my leadership solely on business results, instead of including people results. I could have rationalized any and all of it. But I’d be no further ahead now than I was many years ago. “Most guys top guys I know are focused on improving everything and everyone around them – except themselves.” Power, authority, status, or wealth can substitute for a clear-eyed view of our own deficiencies.
I convince and provoke you into a very intense personal and organizational effort. Are you honest enough and secure enough to take “touch love”, knowing this is not judgmental, just wanting to be more successful. What’s the point? Without brutal personal and organizational self-evaluation, you are unlikely to reach your leadership potential, and thus your organization will underperform. How many of us do not engage in the necessary soul searching to improve performance.
Self-knowledge and management is the foundation to successful long-term leadership capability. Learning the external tips and tactics to manage others is fine, but, ultimately, those are external enhancements for right now; you have to look at the long-term personal evaluation, rather than a one time event, promotion, or entitlement such as a degree or occupational position.
You’ve seen many fall short of their potential because they would not or could not be honest with themselves. They make enough money, they are tired, they don’t need it, they’ve heard it all before, been there and done that. They’ve paid their dues, their just too busy, too much ego on the line. Or just as likely, they were simply unwilling to dig into the challenge of self-development.
That is understandable. We often find things we don’t like about ourselves or our performance when we do it, which is precisely why we must do it. The polite term is self-deception. The true description is bulls##ting yourself.
Tough markets usually provide the shock to the system necessary to re-evaluate people, procedures, markets, and strategies. The same should apply to you and your leadership team.
No matter what else you do, your organization will not reach its profitability or growth potential until you put the money and effort into leadership development.
Make leadership development a priority in 2009. In this market, what got you here won’t get you to where you want to be. Take it from one who knows. You just ain’t that good. Yet.
· What are my main motivations: good and bad?
· What are my strengths and weaknesses in dealing with people?
· What is my fatal flaw and how does it affect people around me?
· What level of intuition do I bring to motivate others?
· What is my blind spot (that everyone else sees)?
· Can I take brutally honest feedback in service of my advancement?
· Am I secure enough in myself to lead well?
· How do I behave under extreme stress?
· What am I going to do with this information, and what resources or strategies am I going to use to improve my personal and organizational performances?
Who better to tell you the truth than yourself? If you do it for yourself, you do it for your business.

Rhubarb with White Chocolate Mousse
1 Vanilla bean
1 3/4 cup Heavy cream
6 Rhubarb stalks
White Chocolate Mousse:
1 Lemon, juice
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup Water
3 1/2 oz White chocolate, chopped
· Servings: 4
· 1 Cut the rhubarb stalks into bite-size pieces. Gently cut the vanilla bean lengthwise to release the full flavor. Mix all the ingredients together except for the cream and chocolate. Simmer over a medium heat for 15 minutes. The rhubarb should fall apart when done. Set to one side and allow to cool.
· 2 Bring half of the heavy cream to the boil. Pour the cream over the chopped chocolate and mix with a hand-held mixer. Blend in the rest of the cream and leave to cool.
· 3 Serve the cold rhubarb mixture in dessert bowls. Beat the chocolate cream mixture until it resembles whipped cream and place a large dollop on top of the rhubarb.

OMG I have been so busy but I have to stop by to tell you what just happen to me that I am still laughing,
I am sitting behind my desk and very busy head full numbers and emails and hubby calls me to go see him, as I was started to stand I looked down and I see this black thing on the bottom of my t-shirt and I started to swat it off like three times it was big, then I realize it was my hair clip, I forgot I clipped it on there. (I thought it was a bug) LMAO

I did great last night, slept really good, no pain last night (YES)!

I AM BACK!
Missed you and I was praying that all is going well!
So whats been going on with you? How is everything going??
I am doing GREAT . In fact I had an extraterrestrial come knock on my door asking me if they can borrow some water for the space ship and I looked at them and said HELLO WERE ON A DROUGHT your stuck here on earth . He got mad and turned me into a hubby came home and kissed me and I changed back to my self . OK I gotta go hit everyone's page.

Hello my Dear friend,
Well I know that it late at night and your sleeping, but I wanted to tell you that I am going to be MIA for about a week/or so hopefully less.
I fell in the back yard and I hurt my back again . I am not going to lie it hurts a lot, its taking a toll on me. My Sciatic has also kicked in on top of that and it makes it very hard to move an inch or anything with out help and you have to do everything ((very very slow)).
Well you have a great weekend and week make someone laugh and always remember to smile from the inside of your heart first.
I will holler at you when I get back on my feet......
