Before Sparkpeople I used to sleep 12 hours a night on the weekend. My niece "Sparked" me and I started my journey the week of August 4th 2008. I was feeling pretty lousy at that time, and I really needed something. It turned out that what I needed was the great big "Spark" my niece had given me. Thank you Beth! It took me a long time to feel comfortable on the site, but I took it slow and steady and now I am off and running!

About me: I am just working on some life long health! I have been married for 29 years. My husband Allan and I have two grown children. Our daughter Lene is 26 married Chad in August of 2010. Our son Peter is 24 and living in Grand Forks. We have a delightful Lhasapoo named Paris. She is the baby of the family.
I am an SLP in the public schools. My job is awesome and my colleagues are my dearest friends. We have a lot of fun!
I want to have better health and to have better overall energy and vitality.

We can do this people! Especially with a little help from our friends!

My Goals:
I want to feel good! I want the aches and pains to go away. I want to look good in my clothes, and to maintain that throughout my golden years!
I want to avoid diabetes and to have normal cholesterol and blood pressure!


My Program:
Drink water - 8 glasses/day

Eat healthy - watch portion sizes! Track my nutrition daily!

Exercise - 3x30 minutes/wk of cardio! 2x30 minutes/wk strength training. Track my fitness!



Personal Information:
My husband had gastric bypass in August of 2008. He has lost 130 pounds! I am trying to make healthy food for the two of us and to eat smaller portions.

Personally, I don't have a lot of free time. I work on call for Courage Center in addition to my full time job at Clear Springs School. I am active in the Minnesota Speech and Hearing Association and love professional connections. I am now President of a young non-profit called Metro Friendship Foundation. We raise funds to provide social skills programs for children with Autism! When I do have some free time, I like to cook, scrapbook, read and in the summer go to our place up north!
It's a pretty full life and I'm not doing anything I don't thoroughly enjoy!
