I looked up the SparkPeople web site May 08 after seeing an article in Health magazine about a success story of weight loss.

Our branch office had recently been closed by corporate, and knew I wanted to take the time I never took when I was too sedentary/busy to work on wellness goals.

6 years of computer work in a cubicle made me fluffy and I needed to return to my goals for a stronger and leaner physique. My eating habits were "clean" except I needed to heed true portion control. Our office did take time to walk around the pond for 30 minutes, weather permitting.

Finding this site has been great for me. I learn so much by logging my food and fitness goals, then comparing to my goal of shapely weight loss.

Last September, 2012; I lost my dear Sparky to coyotes in our neighborhood. I miss him still. I went to rescue sites and got 2 kittens, Cleo and Phaedra.

Speaking of the BBQ, someone brought a delectable potato salad in a different form - it seemed like my mashed potatoes made with cream cheese and sour cream but with the variation of the peels left on red potatoes; celery bits, onion, and ??? was a new one to me and one I would like to emulate. Any ideas? in your recipe file??

JIBBIE49: Thanks for your memories!! Cookies and Kool-aid are my memory also, but would not be your impression at this VBS - They had skewers of fresh fruit; (I missed those as my aide and I were frantically learning all the sign-language to go with the words to the hip songs that nobody had ever heard before) nacho dip with chips; a cute foodie "campfire on a plate" and other things I never saw, because we didn't take a break. They had a staff of culinary mavens. Aide and I had our own teaching session for all 4 age groups every day, along with teaching the songs. Honestly, I don't know why I stayed the same weight, because we worked up a real sweat with each song except I didn't do my usual walks and sculpting or elliptical. Then we felt totally wasted when it was over at 12:30. (Hey -each song was only 2 minutes, which doesn't put you in the "Zone") Aide and I also snacked on the "Props" in the sanctuary; a large box of Goldfish which were meant to remind the children of "Fishers of Men" (throw your nets on the other side of the boat.) She was famished, I only had a few. "Ms Bible School" noticed the apparent weight of the box was less from day to day as she waved it before the crowd to remind them of the themes; finally announced it in front of the closing assembly. BUSTED! I am the Director of Music of this church. It all turned out well. I loved working with my aide, and I made an awesome, memorable Red-White-and Blueberry Pizza dessert for the closing BBQ potluck. Which reminds me - I also ate a quarter-pounder with bun, onions, etc. at the closing event. OK, accountability. Thanks for reminding me. Vaunda

What were you doing girl, having too many COOKIES and KOOL-AID at VBS and that is why you didn't have any pounds lost?

I use to love to go to VBS when I was a child. Then when I had my kids, I took them every week to a different VBS as I couldn't afford to pay for Day Camp, since I was a SAHM, so they'd go to the VBS and make lots of friends, and have fun, and then in the afternoon, I took them to the Navy Swimming Pool, so they were busy during the summer months. Hey,

I live in Marietta as well off of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford. I ride the columns drive area a lot. Thought it would be nice to know somebody on Sparks who is from my area.

    Thanks,

Your Keiko sounds so much like our Ib. He gets all those crazy ideas, he takes walks with me and the dogs - dog - I have to get used to singular now.
Ib is one-of-a-kind - has always been. The way he befriended Valdemar when he was just a tiny kitten was just adorable. I remember Valdemar being all embarrassed as that tiny kitten fell asleep on Valdemar's big paw - and Valde didn't dare to move. That was SO funny and cute to watch!

Thank you again for your comment.
