My New Creation...Me!

I am a 57 year old lady whose life was altered 10 years ago by a car accident, leaving me with pain issues and anxiety. This was further enforced last summer when, while staying at my trailer for a week, went through a tornado that totally destroyed my trailer with me inside of it. I am trying to over come the trauma of this and not letting it take over my life. I swim 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes, love walking when there isn't too much snow down to do so and enjoy knitting, painting, ...

This was further enforced last summer when, while staying at my trailer for a week, went through a tornado that totally destroyed my trailer with me inside of it. I am trying to over come the trauma of this and not letting it take over my life. I swim 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes, love walking when there isn't too much snow down to do so and enjoy knitting, painting, photography, music and reading. I have created a schedule for daily activities to keep me from getting overwhelmed and accomplishing nothing. I have been diagnosed with cronic pain syndrome and fibromyalgia. Working around these issues can sometimes leave me without the focus and discipline required to stay on a healthy regime. On days when I am foggy headed due to the fibromyalgia or too tired to or in too much pain to do my exercise, I lose my way. On good days, I am able to stick to my schedule and spend more time on a proper diet. I have four little grandkids aged between 4 and 6 and want to have the energy to enjoy my time with them. So my goals here are to work with my limitations in a way that still gives me an exercise that works for me, sets me up on a food plan that eliminates flour, sugar, dairy and wheat products and any other products that cause the pain of fibromyalgia to get worse. I learned about these restrictions on the internet, because my doctor, like many doctors only suggest pain killers to deal with the pain issues. I am looking for other answers! Hopefully this is it.

My Goals:
M y goals include a healthier lifestyle and losing weight. Looking for more energy and a support system to get me through the rough spots! Learning to deal with hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia and weight control.

My Program:
For starters..I have re-stocked my refrigerator and cupboards with non-sabotaging foods. I have started walking at the mall when it is NOT open until the nice weather returns. I swim twice a week. I have started serving a veggie tray at my craft class instead of a cookie tray! I have to try a new spark recipe each week!

Personal Information:
I am a 57 year old Grammie of 4 little wonders. I own 2 little yorkies who have wrapped themselves around my heart big-time. I have now been added as a leader of the 'Yorkshire Terrier Lovers Unite" team. I love weekends at the cottage, walking the dogs, knitting, painting, sewing and spoiling the grandkids!

Other Information:
Learning keeps me well! This Christmas I was blessed with a new camera, an ipod, a kindle e-book, a knitting machine and a wooden landscape that you have to put together like a puzzle and paint...none of which I knew a thing about. I have made a schedule to follow daily that allows me a little time each week to learn about all these new things while continueing with my usual daily chores. I keep track in a notebook as to what I accomplished each day. Just like on Sparkpeople, I am slowly learning so many new things. Life is good! My body may be limited..but not my mind!

When I run my next few miles, I'll dedicate one to you, because I can do it (no matter how tough) and I know some days you can't. My mom has the same chronic pain issue and I feel for you. Nice Yorkies! (My mom has a chihuahua).Oh, and I knit! emoticon
