I'm very excited to commit to myself and make a difference in my life by being accountable for my own weight, diet, health and exercise.

My background:

I spent my entire life as a person with no weight issues whatsoever. Even after I had my daughter in 1999, I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans in a few short weeks. Well, fast forward to 2005, I started taking meds for my lifelong asthma. Meds which I would never take earlier because I feared damage to my reproductive system. Meds which my mother and father would never give me in my childhood because of the side effects. Now that I had my child, I was ready for some relief for my constant battle with wheezing and breathlessness.

I ballooned up while taking RX drugs and still struggle with new health issues, including obesity and female problems due to taking meds that dr's thought would help. The meds did in fact help the asthma, but gave me lots of other undesired effects, like migraine headacheds, fatigue, full body aches, weight gain, sinus infections, colds, allergies, and the beginnings of osteoporosis. Not FUN!

After realizing the meds were the problem after much reflection, I chunked them in 6/2010. After reading the book, Reversing Asthma, I quit all dairy products and began taking some supplements, which I no longer need. Later that year I stopped eating any animal products whatsoever. I also read a book, The China Study, recommended by my vegan parents. This was like a lightbulb going off for me, my aha moment. I watched documentaries, read more books, felt so empowered about my health and my food choices.

I have discovered that a plant based diet makes my asthma symptoms disappear! Who knew?!?

My other symptoms have all improved or disappeared completely. I still battle with the female issues, but I'm winning!

I tell everyone I come across that has asthma or knows someone with it that they should at least try eliminating dairy and possibly meat from their diets. It worked for me when nothing else did. It is not a huge sacrifice, especially this day and age when stores have all sorts of alternatives.
