I just read your response to the members success with walk away the pounds. I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to motivate myself. And thanks to you I do feel more inspired. Baby steps is the answer!! We can all do it...... just one more step, one more minute... it all adds up and it all makes a difference. emoticon

You had asked a question in the middle of my thread. Which is ok but I thought that I would answer your questions here.

Yes arm and leg weights do help when you are doing them in a chair. They are perfect for the beginner or for someone that is obese. Which by how you described yourself that would be you.

The lady that commented on your question had a really good suggestion of this week just working on walking to the mail box. If your mail box is at your front door then walk to the end of the drive way and back. Do that for a week. Then up to the end of the block and back next week. Keep adding to it.

But back to the chair weights. The reason that weights will help is that as you build muscles muscle burns more calories than fat. Bottom line. Start out with the resistance bands or 1 pound weights. If you can afford the weights use two cans of veggies from the kitchen. Use those until once you get through the reps you are not feeling anything any more. Then bump up to the 2 pound weights. Get the weights that wrap around your ankles. Do leg lifts. If that is to much to start with then do the leg exercises without weights to start with.

If you are not comfortable with walking around your neighborhood go to Wal-Mart and get one of the Leslie Sansone videos. She has several walking dvd's. Walk Away the pounds. I did those in the beginning. They work wonders. She also shows you how to modify the moves if you do not have full range of motion.

Look at the excerise demos that are here on Spark people. They have several and I have used them before.

Also make sure that you are taking your vitamins and do get to the doctor to make sure that there isn't anything that you can not do. I hope that this helps.
