It's a New Day Dawning!

Things have just spiraled out of control. I have regained much of the weight that I lost a couple years ago.

I have severe sleep apnea, and I wear an oral appliance (a TAP) to help with that. It was doing a great job until I regained weight. The sleep study results from August show that I am not getting good sleep.

So!

The options presented to me by Dr. L. (the dentist who made the TAP for me) are the following:

1. Use CPAP. (I'm not going ...

1. Use CPAP. (I'm not going to do it. God love you if you can keep that mask on your face all night, but I simply cannot do it!)

2. Use CPAP with my TAP. (Nope. I want no CPAP at all!)

3. Lose weight.

4. Surgery. (I'd rather not have to go that route.)


So here I am, back at the weight loss biz. It's a new day dawning!


A little bit about me.....

I lost 139 pounds from April 2009 to December 2010 using Optifast, a medically supervised weight loss program. I was able to maintain that weight loss for quite some time until recently. I had thought that the only way to keep the weight off was to accept a life of severely restricting my eating to an incredibly low number of calories per day, with limited choices of foods. But I found out that that sort of thinking only sets me up for binge eating, thus causing weight gain.

However, now that I've joined SparkPeople, I'm learning that it doesn't have to be that way. I can lose weight and still enjoy a variety of foods! Yay!!!

With support from family and my new SparkFriends, I know I will get back to a weight that I can maintain!

My Goals:
I want to develop a healthy relationship with food, to get at least 10 minutes of exercise every day, and to choose healthy foods. I am taking one day at a time. I feel overwhelmed when I try to look at the "big picture."

My Program:
Baby steps! Make good decisions about what goes into my mouth, and get out there and get some exercise.

I know I also need to keep up with my Spark buddies to encourage and to be encouraged.

I have a little cat, nearly a year old! She is a tortoise-shell (Tortie). I adopted her this past April. I had a senior cat named Missy, who I had to have put to sleep in October 2012. She was a very sick cat, and it was her time to go.

I'm not married, and I don't have any kids or grandkids. That's okay---I don't think I could put up with any of that! LOL

I love to read and to shop. Better yet, I love to shop for books! ;)

Hi Laura, I'm doing OK. It's busy here with work, church, grandkids, but I like being busy. I'm not where I want to be with my weight but seem to have little motivation to work at it right now. I love this time of the year. The days are beautiful. Blessings on your day today.
