December 2007, probably my highest weight

August 2011. This is the "happy medium" between the two extremes.

December 2010, at my lowest weight. It was too low for me to maintain.

The story continues......
Update, 4/27/12: I've gained even more weight. Ugh. So yesterday I started the plan outlined in the book, "The Beck Diet Solution" by Dr. Judith R. Beck. I know from experience that half the battle of losing weight is keeping your mind in the game, so I am hoping that this book will help me do just that. I've also changed my weight loss goal to weigh 140. I have a long way to go at this point, but I think I can do it. Baby steps! When I climb a steep hill, I keep my head ...
Baby steps! When I climb a steep hill, I keep my head down so I can see my feet so I see them take one step at a time. I just can't look at how far I need to go, or I get overwhelmed. So I'm trying to do that with my weight loss. One little step at a time. I'm going to celebrate little goals. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------- Update, 2/24/12: I regained some weight (okay, a lot of weight!) from November to December 2011, and that's when I started here at SparkPeople. As of this date, I've lost about 34 pounds, and when I reach my goal weight, I will lose a total of nearly 43 pounds. I have no intention of trying to lose as much weight as I had originally lost back in December 2010. It's just not a realistic weight to maintain. My goal is to weigh 135 pounds. As of my last "official" weigh in (2/24/12), I currently weigh 143.9. I have about 9 more pounds to go to reach my goal!! Hooray!!!! ---------------------------------------- ---------------------- I lost 139 pounds from April 2009 to December 2010 using Optifast, a medically supervised weight loss program. I was able to maintain that weight loss for quite some time until recently. I had thought that the only way to keep the weight off was to accept a life of severely restricting my eating to an incredibly low number of calories per day, with limited choices of foods. But I found out that that sort of thinking only sets me up for binge eating, thus causing weight gain. However, now that I've joined SparkPeople, I'm learning that it doesn't have to be that way. I can lose weight and still enjoy a variety of foods! Yay!!! With support from family and my new SparkFriends, I know I will get back to a weight that I can maintain!

My Goals:
I want to develop a healthy relationship with food, to get at least 10 minutes of exercise every day, and to choose healthy foods. I am taking one day at a time. I feel overwhelmed when I try to look at the "big picture."
My Program:
I just began reading "The Beck Diet Solution" by Dr. Judith R. Beck, and I'm following its plan of daily activities. The gist of the plan seems to be that you need to change your thinking in order to lose weight. I feel really encouraged about using this plan of daily activities. I know I also need to keep up with my Spark buddies to encourage and to be encouraged. Right now, my exercise is pretty pathetic. My goal is to increase my activity to get some exercise (10 minutes or more) every day.
