Sparkabella at 50!

I'm a 49-year-old, soon-to-be empty nester who has decided it's time to start taking care of me. I'm an overweight T2 diabetic with high cholesterol (although it is coming down with meds) and high blood pressure (also controlled with meds). I would love to look better, more importantly get off some of my meds, and most importantly FEEL BETTER.

“For some reason, we are truly convinced that if we criticize ourselves, the criticism will lead to change.
If we are harsh, we believe we will end up being kind.
If we shame ourselves, we believe we end up loving ourselves.
It has never been true, not for a moment, that shame leads to love. Only love leads to love.”

Hi Bella. Miss you too. Been having a rough time lately. My son is struggling in school and is on the verge of not graduating. As much as my logical brain tells me "he has to do this for himself I can't do it for him", I still worry. Work has been rough. Some lay offs and a bunch of changes. Needless to say I have a stress induced rash that is driving me crazy with itching and scratching. Went to doctor and he put me on some medication to calm my nerves. All in all just trying to hang in there. Still smoke free. 5 months and counting.

“Renew, release, let go. Yesterday’s gone. There’s nothing you can do to bring it back. You can’t “should’ve” done something. You can only DO something. Renew yourself. Release that attachment. Today is a new day!”

“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
-John C. Maxwell

Get ready for a healthy week, Sparkfriend! You know what you want, and you know what you need to do in order to make it happen...so just do it! Push yourself, even if you don't feel like it...because you really are worth the effort!

"The common conception is that motivation leads to action, but the reverse is true....action precedes motivation. You have to "prime the pump" and get the juice flowing, which motivates you to work on your goals. Getting momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the first step is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day."
-Robert McKain
